Old Bomber Fan Posted December 25, 2016 Report Posted December 25, 2016 First and fore most Merry Christmas to all and may you all have a healthy happy 2017! Regarding the Bombers, perhaps no news is good news but I do get a little edgy when I read about all the other teams in the CFL resigning some of their free agents and not hearing a thing about the Bombers save they have signed their long snapper and some that were on the practice roster last year. I make the assumption that they are hard at work in the back ground but it would certainly ease the concerns if a few of the significant free agents were signed. Not sure your feelings but throwing it out there for others to comment.
Jesse Posted December 25, 2016 Report Posted December 25, 2016 Normally teams are signing players right now using extra cap space from the previous season. It is good roster and cap management. However, the scuttlebutt this year is that we don't have any extra cap space in order to do that. So, you're right, it's not great news. It's not surprising though.
17to85 Posted December 26, 2016 Report Posted December 26, 2016 also a factor is that the Bombers have less free agents than a lot of teams. Noeller 1
Noeller Posted December 26, 2016 Report Posted December 26, 2016 I was totally going to say that it's because we have less work that needs to be done... IC Khari 1
Jacquie Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) I don't recall that many re-signings being announced. A few releases but not any big name re-signings. There are quite a few teams close to the cap this season. Edited December 27, 2016 by Jacquie
bigg jay Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 I would say Elimimian re-signing would qualify as a big name.
Tracker Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 As has been mentioned before, there is one obvious place the team can save a big chunk of change by moving Mr. Hurl and Mr. Neufeld. DR. CFL 1

It seems like the Lions and Stamps are the only teams who have re-signed any "big" potential FAs (2 each). It's also been reported by numerous members of the media that Bryant and Medlock aren't going anywhere so I wouldn't be surprised if their re-signings are announced shortly into the new year. bigg jay 1
TBURGESS Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 Stamps - Entire coaching staff, Law, Hughes, Maver. Paredes. Lions - Entire coaching staff, Elimimian, Jeremiah Johnson. Redblacks - Entire coaching staff, Pruneau. Edmonton - White Mr Dee 1
Floyd Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 Aren't some December signings often announced in early January...? I seem to remember this with bomber signings.

DR. CFL Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 It often depends on season ticket dates and deadlines when teams are trying to pump air into the tires of fans. Eternal optimist 1
BigBlue Posted January 1, 2017 Report Posted January 1, 2017 Well this is the slowest I have seen our site in a cuple of years ... hope that is a good sign

A lot of activity this time of year would usually only be from disgruntled fans talking about firing so-and-so and mismanagement of the team overall. The Bombers extended O'Shea and Co. so that argument is put to bed and I think most of us are just slightly disappointed at how far away the next home game is at this time of year. I always find January to April to be the longest time of year because of this.
MOBomberFan Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 Things will heat up just prior to FA

The qb situation I expect to take into FA to figure out the best deal.
