Zontar Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 Federal Liberals and Elections Canada were made aware of illegal campaign contributions by SNC employees 3 years ago. In that time they have done nothing and hid report from media. Sunny ways.
kelownabomberfan Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says today's federal Liberal party wouldn't accept political donations like those that got SNC-Lavalin in trouble in the late 2000s. Trudeau says the party has improved its standards and, in his words, "that is not what happens any more." The Quebec-based engineering firm reached a "compliance agreement" with Canada's elections commissioner in 2016, admitting that executives who'd left the company by then had convinced employees to give money to both the Liberal and Conservative parties. The agreement was public at the time but a CBC report today reveals the names of the SNC-Lavalin employees the elections commissioner believed were involved. Reimbursing the donors with company bonuses was a way around an election law that forbids corporations to make political donations. The Liberals got nearly $118,000 under the scheme, compared with the Tories' $8,000. SNC-Lavalin CEO Neil Bruce said in 2016 that the agreement with the elections commissioner was evidence that the company had turned over a new leaf. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/liberals-wouldnt-take-hidden-snc-lavalin-money-now-trudeau-says/ar-AAAKd4Q?ocid=spartanntp
Mark F Posted May 1, 2019 Report Posted May 1, 2019 apropos Ontario conservatives dropping tree planting program Quote China has reportedly reassigned over 60,000 soldiers to plant trees in a bid to combat pollution by increasing the country's forest coverage. It comes as part of China's plan to plant at least 84,000 square kilometres (32,400 square miles) of trees by the end of the year, which is roughly equivalent to the size of Ireland. The aim is to increase the country's forest coverage from 21 per cent of its total landmass to 23 per cent by 2020, the China Daily newspaper reported. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/china-tree-plant-soldiers-reassign-climate-change-global-warming-deforestation-a8208836.html?fbclid=IwAR0ojSFtx9wTchh2QBkwzh5r8_SWK4jqVz-Ue8Uo-DJUQcXlM_eRp_qevyo&utm_source=reddit.com JCon and Wideleft 2

Zontar Posted May 11, 2019 Report Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) Re Norman Case. If not an impending election Liberals would have been more than happy for this guy to go to jail for nothing and their business cronies rewarded. Case was dropped to avoid a scandal. Full stop. RCMP, nothing to see here, folks, move along. Canada's judiciary is now riddled with liberals and Liberals. This country is a corrupt joke. Edited May 11, 2019 by Zontar
Wideleft Posted May 14, 2019 Report Posted May 14, 2019 'Buried' report suggests limited economic damage from carbon tax Saskatchewan paid for a report that suggested a federal carbon tax would shave less than a tenth of a point off the economic growth rate — and then sat on the results "Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment paid for a third-party study that suggested a federal carbon tax would do little economic damage — and then sat on the results. Dated October 2017, a Navius Research report found much to like in the province’s own plans for limiting emissions. But its economic modelling didn’t predict economic catastrophe if Ottawa imposed its carbon backstop on Saskatchewan. The province later commissioned another report that did, and announced the results with much fanfare at a press conference in June 2018." https://leaderpost.com/news/saskatchewan/buried-report-suggests-limited-economic-damage-from-carbon-tax?fbclid=IwAR2iU-OZXOuJKNYlVvCKNR6xgKVWq18-NjwdvVY8XVL_-G1p8X9Yvh-6WSY

nate007 Posted May 16, 2019 Report Posted May 16, 2019 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/concordia-hospital-er-peachey-recommendation-1.5138452 Good news for Transcona and the Kildonans. Urgent care centres are great, as they still do a lot of the things that ERs do (wife got stitches in her hand at the Vic last summer, and was in and out in under an hour). Overall, I think that the reorganization makes a lot of sense (would you rather have three really good and properly resourced ERs, or six that are stretched too thin?). Like any major change, there will obviously be some bugs that need to get worked out. I also think that they need to do a much better job of educating the public on what kind of ailments should go to the ER vs quick care clinics vs walk-ins and family doctors. It would probably be a good idea to have someone open a walk in clinic beside each ER, and have the triage nurse direct people to go there if they do not have an emergency... (Should we have a separate Manitoba politics thread?)

Tides, Rockefeller Foundation & other US organizations are registered in Canada as partisan charitable organizations & have been funding much smaller Canadian organizations who are against oil sand development. They also influenced the last federal election by spending $$$ in selected ridings across Canada dedicated to defeating Conservative candidates. The scary part are Americans are influencing our politics across the country at the provincial & federal level. These organizations will try again to influence who gets elected & who doesn't. Forget the Russians & Chinese. These American organizations are much more dangerous & can't be allowed to influence our democratic institutions.
