Ain't no "could be" about it. Assassinating the leader who fails to deliver a majority is a Tory tradition. I'm just surprised that it took so long to come to this. JCon 1

But a source with direct knowledge of the controversial 2015 case told CBC News that then-minister of justice Jody Wilson-Raybould wasn't consulted, even though a lawyer in her department signed the final release. A Department of Justice official referred a CBC interview request to the Department of Crown-Indigenous Relations; no one at that department returned interview requests on Tuesday or Wednesday. Wilson-Raybould herself declined CBC News' interview request. Bad looks all around. the watcher 1

Speaking of the day. they totally f'd it up by not renaming Victoria Day to Truth and Reconciliation Day. September 30th is orange shirt day and chosen to commemorate the legacy of residential schools. This is an important date in reconciliation and why it was chosen. We should rename Victoria Day and find someone (or something else) to commemorate on this day. But, May Long Weekend (May Two-Four in ON), as it's colloquially called, would never effectively get the attention that September 30th has. blue_gold_84 and Noeller 1 1

Nah. https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/campaigns/national-day-truth-reconciliation.html Quote Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30. Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day that honours the children who survived residential schools and remembers those who did not. This day relates to the experience of Phyllis Webstad, a Northern Secwepemc (Shuswap) from the Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation, on her first day of school, where she arrived dressed in a new orange shirt, which was taken from her. It is now a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. On September 30, we encourage all Canadians to wear orange to raise awareness of the very tragic legacy of residential schools, and to honour the thousands of Survivors. Victoria Day should still be renamed (there's no reason to celebrate a monarch from an age long passed) but that's a separate issue from Sep. 30th and what it represents.

"The Globe and Mail procured tax filings for thousands of Catholic Church organizations from the Canada Revenue Agency, and worked with the research organization Charity Intelligence Canada to arrive at an overall financial picture for the Roman Catholic Church in Canada. The calculation reveals the vast combined assets of Catholic organizations in the country. In all, 3,446 registered Catholic Church charities – mostly dioceses and parishes – received a total of $886-million in donations in 2019, making them combined the largest charitable organization in the country. All told, 2019 net assets – the sum of cash, investments, property and other holdings, after accounting for liabilities such as debts and loans – are valued at a minimum of $4.1-billion. (The number does not account for the assets of Catholic organizations such as monasteries.) https://www.worldcatholicnews.com/the-catholic-church-in-canada-is-worth-billions-a-globe-investigation-shows-why-are-its-reparations-for-residential-schools-so-small/ “These are staggering numbers,” says Kate Bahen, managing director of Charity Intelligence, a registered charity that provides analysis and ratings on the finances and transparency of Canada’s charity sector. The Catholic Church’s share of a national residential schools settlement reached in 2006, meant to go toward healing and reconciliation efforts, amounted to $29-million in cash, $25-million in church in-kind services, and $25-million from a fundraising campaign. That campaign raised just $3.7-million." 😂 Edited October 8, 2021 by Mark F WildPath, Tracker and blue_gold_84 1 2
blue_gold_84 Posted October 15, 2021 Report Posted October 15, 2021 https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-parliament-cabinet-2021-1.6212038 Quote Parliament will return on Nov. 22, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced Friday morning in a news release. Cabinet will be sworn in on Oct. 26... Among the early priorities for the government are vaccinations — ensuring that everyone 12 or older travelling by plane or train is fully vaccinated, as well as all federal employees and workers in federally regulated industries. The government is also putting priority on a conversion therapy ban, 10 days of paid sick leave for federally regulated workers, and engaging provinces and territories who have not yet signed on to the government's $10-a-day child-care agreement. Trudeau has reached out to opposition leaders to discuss shared priorities, according to the release. He will speak with them by phone early next week. JCon and Noeller 2
Tracker Posted October 15, 2021 Report Posted October 15, 2021 In Manitoba politics, a couple of developments: The doctor in charge of nuclear medicine at HSC has tendered his resignation in protest over antiquated equipment that should have been replaced nearly a decade ago and another MRI machine desperately needed but denied. GP's have now been told that they can no longer renew non-addictive prescriptions without seeing patients, as had been the case for many years. This is crippling the healthcare system as doctors wait time to see patients will now grow from days to weeks, straining doctors even more. This fits in with the Tory playbook of bleeding government services to the point where they can justify privatising or shutting them down entirely. This has been going on with Manitoba Hydro and now the attack is on the healthcare system. Alternatively. MLCC could be sold off because they need the money for healthcare. WildPath and JCon 2
