NDP came into power as oil was cratering. No **** they had a deficit and no wonder the UCP got a surplus when oil bounced back this past year. for 40 years Alberta governments rode the oil royalty gravy train for easy surpluses. The NDP didn't piss away a billion dollars on a pipeline that had no chance of ever being built Trump win or no Trump win. The NDP didn't give away big money in corporate tax cuts to watch businesses still pull up shop and leave. The NDP didn't piss away millions on a do nothing war room to go tilting after windmills. There are elements within the NDP that are extreme and I don't like that, but Rachel Notley showed herself to be a very pragmatic leader in a time when that is in short supply. You are very quick to hand wave away Danielle Smiths so called distractions... but with her it's not really a distraction. This is the reason she never unseated the PCs before when she was running the Wild Rose party. She doesn't know when to shut up. Other conservative politicians play the game and keep the quiet part quiet and work insidiously to undermine our social safety net and public institutions so that the rich get richer, but Smith just can't keep her big mouth shut and spills the beans all the time. It speaks more to the lack of proper parenting by YOUR generation than anything else. Though I will say I think Boomers get way more worked from rage farms than any other generation. What a ridiculous argument. You just keep thinking that. Did my generation hover around our kids when they were growing up? Yeah, we did. But Newsflash, your generation is 100 percent as bad as mine was. Was this behaviour an overreaction? Yeah, absolutely. As a retired school bus driver, (as of June 30, 2021) I saw some real shining example of entitlement from today's generation spoiling & coddling their kids which was easily as bad or as worse as anything we did 30 years before. One time, I was five minutes late getting to my last stop on my last run of the day in the afternoon because of heavy traffic volume. A young student had left a mitt on the bus from the morning run. After we stopped, I didn't open the door right away. I reached up into the overhead compartment to get the mitt out to (hopefully) give back to the student who left it on the bus after my AM run. I wanted to show the kids the mitt before they left the bus for the day. Suddenly, there was a loud banging on my door & an enraged mother demanding to know why I didn't open the door right away. Screaming at me to give her son back to her. She accused me of kidnapping him. Besides swearing at me, she said she was calling the cops to have me arrested. This Mom had lost her mind. Yet, there she melting down at the foot of the steps of my bus accusing me of kidnapping. Yep, all because I was trying to give a glove back to a student before they left the bus that day when it was minus 20. Her behaviour freaked out some of the little kids on the bus so I closed the door & wouldn't let the kids off until she calmed down. I deemed her a threat to student safety. I reported her to my dispatcher as the incident was taking place. Told Dispatch the kids were not being allowed off until she calmed down & wrote her up for a parental misconduct. I was asked if I wanted the police to attend & I told Dispatch no but I'd let them know if she doesn't stop yelling. She was banned for the rest of the school year by the Calgary Board of Education from saying anything to me or coming within 7 metres of my school bus door. She was also told that if she tried any more shennanigans like that again, her son would be banned for the remainder of the school year. So, after that, I'd pull up to the stop, let the kids out & I could hear her yelling at me from time to time at a distance about something she didn't like that particular day. I just ignored her. This went on for the remainder of the school year as the incident took place the first week back from holidays in January, 2021. She was never happy about me or my driving. Something always pissed her off. The woman was a nutcase. I just ignored the stupid, entitled little ***** of a mommy. Lucky for this Mom her son was one of the most best behaved kids on the bus. That saved him from being punted as he was a nice boy & I didn't want to punish him for his Mother acting like an idiot. Mom was smart enough to stay away from my door after that, Had she walked up & started to scream again, her son would have been permanently gone. As it stood, I could have had her son taken off the bus because her behaviour never really stopped. She just did it from 20 feet away. When I heard her yelling after the kids were off the bus, I'd quickly close the door & she'd leave. I never spoke to her face to face again for the rest of the school year. So, you claim that my generation didn't do proper parenting? Think again. Parents today are every bit as entitled as they were 20 or 30 years ago when my generation was the same age as parents are today with my 2 sons. Except I never sreamed at an innocent school bus driver as my kids walked to & from school everyday. BTW, what a clever name Rage Farming is. Just another buzzword of the 2020's.
