glad it was easy, didnt waste much of your time.

here is some more information.

update, another five minutes of searches. Trudeau trying harder newer information.

  • Investing as much as C$3.2 billion over 10 years to plant two billion trees
  • Spending as much as C$631 million over a decade to restore and enhance wetlands, peatlands, grasslands and agricultural lands
  • Investing C$1.5 billion in a low-carbon and zero-emissions fuels fund to increase the production and use of clean fuels
  • A new Net Zero Accelerator innovation fund of C$3 billion over five years “to rapidly expedite decarbonization projects with large emitters”

Not at all a waste of time. I just felt it necessary to point out there are things being done by the feds, even if it's likely not enough at this stage in the game.

Too little, too late seems to be the mantra for humanity as a whole when it comes to managing crises on this planet and climate change is no exception. Collectively, we're reactive way more often than we're proactive - it explains a lot of the state of the world.

agree.

re what to do.....

I would like to see direct investment in renewable energy, start with alberta, help for oil worker who, lose jobs,

train them in the new energy technology. build it. its cheaper now anyway. as a powerf source.

figure out each provinces best renewable potential.... and concentrate on that on that place.

help needed for  all workers who face job, lossmcause of changes like this. they need and should get help from the government.

certainly they wont get any from the big corps. who, will treat their workers as  they treat their abandoned wells.

You can't look at spending across one department. Infrastructure has renewable energy, Natural Resources, etc. all have pieces of the renewable energy. And, some of it is Provincial jurisdiction.

Skills development is one piece, for sure.

Quote

Conservative MPs today voted to expel Derek Sloan from caucus after the eastern Ontario MP accepted a donation from a notorious white nationalist.

Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole initiated the ouster earlier this week after news emerged that Paul Fromm — whose ties to white supremacist and neo-Nazi causes have long been documented — had contributed $131 to Sloan's leadership campaign.

Sloan fought against the vote, saying he was unaware of the source of the donation because Fromm used his full name, Frederick P. Fromm.

Conservatives voted by secret ballot today, with the majority of MPs voting to remove Sloan from their benches.

In a statement issued this afternoon, O'Toole called the donation the "last straw."

"The Conservative caucus voted to remove Derek Sloan not because of one specific event, but because of a pattern of destructive behaviour involving multiple incidents and disrespect towards the Conservative team for over a year," he said.

"These actions have been a consistent distraction from our efforts to grow the party and focus on the work we need to do. Events of the past week were simply the last straw and led to our caucus making the decision it did today."

A smart decision. Good riddance.

The PC's in Alberta would have a hard time philosophically with federal money coming into "their" province. If Alberta can get past that, any credit they will give to federal Liberals will be very short-lived- about 20 minutes, I figure.

Trudeau is under the impression that if he tosses token spending at Alberta, they will stop whining and snarling at him and maybe even vote Liberal. Fat chance.

%^&* Trudeau. That always feels good to say that here in Alberta.

Should be no one. It's just a patronage job.

Head of Government. The Queen's representative. Can't be no one.

An appointed governor General is far superior to an elected position. Keep it apolitical so we avoid the **** show that is happening in the US. Same with the senate. Last thing we need is the gridlock that exists down there.

It's a completely ridiculous position, for sure, but still something that is (unfortunately) necessary with our current form of government. It's unbelievable that someone could **** up a job as easy as that one...

It really just shows how selfish she was. Her actions should qualify her as the most American of any of our government or political leaders. Shouldn’t have been allowed to resign, likely keeps a massive pension but should have been fired for cause.

That's what a PM is for.

I don't think you understand. The PM can't do that. That's not allowed.

You really want to open up the constitution?

Strictly speaking while it is a ceremonial position, you need one under the current system. PM = Head of government, Monarch =Head of State, GG=Monarch's rep thus acts as Head of State.

Head of state, yes. Wasn't thinking.

The PM does not represent the queen. They represent their party, who represent the people.

What happened exactly? I read a brief article about a toxic work place but there were no details.

Then a pm with a majority is just a dictator.

He already is.  If a U.S. President had as much power as a Canadian PM with a majority, it would be an absolute disaster.

I haven’t seen the final report but some of the prelim info was ugly. Human rights violations, abuse of staff and from the sounds of it financial improprieties worse than we have seen before and we’ve seen some ridiculous ones already.

Yes, if it means getting rid of the separatists.

Canada's always been like that. Majority in parliament, you can do what ever you want.

Every country seems to have a minority who feels aggrieved and wants to run away (figuratively) and be their own country. Human nature, I guess that the grass is always greener elsewhere.
