Goalie Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 We are the only team in the league who plays the archaic man to man D in our zone. It's killing us and this is why you are guys chasing 1 player around the entire D zone.

He is young in terms of his NHL playing career. He could still be a good player.. he's shown it before. He needs to go to the A next year tho. Mark F 1

Only difference there is a minor possibility of hutch finding his game again in the A. Pavs is a lost cause Yes. Hutch still hAs upside. He rose to prominence very quickly from the ECHL to the NHL in one season. Then he ran into the brick wall called Flaherty. It's possible he returns to form but that would be easier if wade was fired

The worst goalie coach in the league but he's pals with Chipman.
bustamente Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 Couple of free agent goalie's who are 28 could hit the market this summer Darling from Chicago and Mason from Philly, if the Jets think that Helle can't handle the load next year maybe one of those guys can be an improvement over what we have here at the moment
The Unknown Poster Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 Darling. Darling. Darling. Goalie 1
Floyd Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 4 years at $4 million+ for Darling... $5, $4.5, $4, $3 That is more than enough time for Helle to develop, no pressure - same type of goalie as Darling... I think Helle RFA will just be ending when Darling contract is up.
Goalie Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 (edited) Darling isn't worth more than Greiss. 3 years 9 million max. Helle the last 2 games looks more like Helle of last year and less like the flopping fish pav and hutch. At this point I'm not sure it matters who Is in net.. our system in the d zone is archaic. Pittsburgh played it last year.... fired the coach. .. stopped playing it and won the cup Edited February 12, 2017 by Goalie The Unknown Poster 1

Sounds familiar. Works for the Pens.

I googled wpg jets defensive system, and found only one article, which had only one paragraph on the subject. I'm thinking nobobdy actually knows what system they use. one article said man to man. beats me. Edited February 12, 2017 by Mark F
The Unknown Poster Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 Well they chase the opposition around until they score, which happens more than almost every other team. So...thats a bad system. Brandon 1

It's frustrating... it reminds me of playing NHL video games where on the easiest setting the computers defense just sits and waits for you to make dekes and passes and that the only time they create a turnover is if you on offense screw something up. Floyd Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 The assistant coaches only have one more year on their contracts... the jets will give them one more shot to save money... along with Maurice. Then we'll get a good coach for a very fair price. Its the Winnipeg way.

Goalie Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 I'll be watching to see how high the GAD factor is. That'd probably one of the most important "stats" in every sport. Last couple games it's been non existent so we will see. GAD = Give A Damn Bottom line... we can sit here talking about goalies or coaches or whatever but if the veteran leaders don't give a crap then... it's irrelevant who starts or who coaches. Players play... coaches coach. I just don't think our veteran players should be given any more free passes. 1 coach down.. How many have to come and go until you start moving some of those veteran guys who just don't seem to really GAD

At 1 point bogo and Kane were but they certainly weren't the veteran leaders. It's Ladd wheeler buff maybe enstrom and stu and Thorburn
