Darryl Sutter would kick this team's ass to a playoff spot...  he'll get canned by the Kings because they got old.

Buff back in... guess they're not shutting him down for the season

I'm a big fan of Darryl Sutter and I think he would be exactly what this team needs.  California Dreamin' though.

Team is officially out and Dano benched in favour of Thorburn...  that's all we need to know about Maurice.

Thorbs gets a two-year, $1.2 AAV contract.

The Jets love this guy!

Does Dano get a hattie against Hutch next year during the first Vegas-Jets matchup?

nope Maurice said Dano will get back in when he "outplays the competition" i.e. Thorburn

Did Dano forget his skates and stick back home in Winnipeg??

Dano stayed after the morning skate to practice icing the puck and getting caught too deep on the forecheck then skating his hardest to clear the zone...

Another top 4 defenseman or a healthy Myers, maybe both, and an upgrade in goal. That's my wish list for next season. Unfortunately, it's a pretty weak fa class for the type of dman I would want.  Alzner was a running joke here for awhile, but imo he'd be a great partner for Buff on the 2nd pairing.

I don't get it... is it because there's no chance he'd sign in Winnipeg??...

More because in every second thread, Ducky suggested that Alzner was the answer to our problems...

He's also been working on growing a beard, being really good in the locker room and taking senseless minor penalties.

Thorbs is a poor man's Buff.

I see... I think Alzner would be a great signing... but I don't think it's realistic...

Don't forget floating around the ice, doing absolutely nothing productive.

You know Supernatural went to Manitoba this past season? Think it was Emerson.

Emerson seems to be the "go to" place this year ;)

What happened to Ducky?

Also, Dano is good.  If its because they didnt feel he put the effort there since the team is eliminated, so be it.  But really, Maurice is a big big problem with this team.  We can point to goaltending and D and injuries and schedule.  And maybe if any one of those things was different, we'd have made the playoffs.  But you can add coaching to that.  Maurice is a big problem.

Extending Maurice, even if the team is improved on the ice and on paper is like having a Ferrari with no engine.  Maurice is terrible.

It's easy to blame Maurice but at some point it would be nice to see one of our fourth-line players actually do something productive.  Yeah you can say it's hard to make a difference in 6-8 minutes per game.... but it's not impossible.  Getting a little tired of coaching being used as an excuse for our players underperforming.  Maybe Dano should be in instead of Thorburn.  Maybe he should score a couple goals and force the issue instead of waiting for it to be handed to him.  Same goes for Petan, Armia, and any number of other players that the fanbase makes excuses for every day instead of facing the obvious reality that some of these players just aren't good enough.

Heard some people the other day blaming Laine's slump on Maurice for splitting him up with Scheifele.  Yeah, how awful, he has to play with Nik Ehlers and Bryan Little.... impossible to score with linemates like that, right?

Chevy doesnt escape blame.  He considers having two creamers instead of one in his monthly small latte to be a bold decision.

Maurice getting an extension, Flaherty and Huddy still being here...that would be another strike against Chevy.  Chevy firing the entire coaching staff would be a bold step in the right direction.  Then getting a goalie, then getting bottom pairing D..and we're onto something.

You're right, it's tough to produce with 6 minutes a game, but it's even tougher when Thorburn is one of your line mates.  He's an anchor to the 4th line.  Not in a good way.

At this time last year, our fourth line was Petan-Copp-Armia and they were making a difference and playing 10 minutes a game or more.  This year, Maurice is riding his top lines and playing Thorburn to the bitter end... makes no sense.

Scheif and Laine  were averaging a point a game together...  then Maurice switched Laine to RW and Ehlers to LW with Little... what has he done since then?  Not much.

I don't know, but I do know Perreault-Scheifele-Wheeler has been the best line we've put together all season. If Laine can't produce without Scheifele, that's not Maurice's fault.

Its not better or worse than Laine-Scheif-Wheeler...

So what's the problem?  You originally said "Laine and Scheifele were averaging a point per game together"...... ok, so now Perreault and Scheifele are averaging a point per game together.  What's the issue, exactly?  Are we trying to win games or trying to win the Calder for Laine?

well anything goes tonight, we have nothing to lose except the possibility of another player due to injury but again there's nothing to lose and there's no point to looking at the standings....except to check on the other Canadian teams in PO position
