FrostyWinnipeg Posted April 19, 2017 Report Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) Jets Mark Scheifele, Josh Morrissey, Eric Comrie & Athletic Trainer Rob Milette will join Team Canada for IIHF Worlds Championship. Edited April 19, 2017 by FrostyWinnipeg JCon 1
bearpants Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 Sounds like a pretty solid group of forwards going... Scheifele, Matt Duchene, Ryan O'Reilley, Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmons, Sean Couteriere, Nate McKinnon, Jeff Skinner... this team shouldn't have trouble scoring...

Now tell me about their defense...

Atomic Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 I find it really interesting that Comrie is going. Did everyone else say no, or are they actually wanting to look at AHL guys in anticipation of the Olympics? I just see lots of names out there like Bernier, Mason, Reimer, Ward, etc.... not to mention guys who will be out of the playoffs shortly.

So is Comrie the best CDN goalie today - probably not. But maybe HC thinks he's got a chance to be at an Olympic games down the road. Hellebuyck and Copp are going, too. No disrespect to those guys, but US has to have better options, no? I figure the better options are just older.

However there aren't really that many good American goalie options out there that aren't in the playoffs right now. No American goalie in the league this year had more wins than Hellebuyck.

Goalie Posted April 29, 2017 Report Posted April 29, 2017 Lots of USA players tend to say no to this tournament. Actually US Hockey is quite strange with their decisions at times. As for Comrie... he's what? 21? Think ppl tend to forget that about him. He's very young and he's actually thought of very highly.
Atomic Posted May 5, 2017 Report Posted May 5, 2017 Is there an audio or video stream anywhere on the internet for the game currently ongoing?

Jimmy Pop Posted May 5, 2017 Report Posted May 5, 2017 Jets should be paying some side coin to Copp & Helle this tournament. You convince Trouba to sign for 5+ years, extra $100K on your paycheque.
Floyd Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 McDavid not joining Canada at WHC... doesn't he know how important this tournament is? Selfish selfish person, haven't seen anyone this bad since that bum Iginla...
FrostyWinnipeg Posted May 13, 2017 Author Report Posted May 13, 2017 Fabrice Herzog scores OT winner as Switzerland stuns Canada at worlds.
BomberBall Posted May 15, 2017 Report Posted May 15, 2017 Scheifele had a goal and an assist today. He hasn't really been lighting it up over there, so far, but He's looked okay, from what I've seen.
blue_gold_84 Posted May 18, 2017 Report Posted May 18, 2017 I still can't believe the US lost to Finland earlier today. Nice game by Team Canada so far. Scheifele's PPG was slick.

One game they will look like they should be getting relegated and the next they're knocking out a favorite. I don't know what it is. blue_gold_84 1
Mr Dee Posted May 19, 2017 Report Posted May 19, 2017 Don Coates - @TroyWestwood did you hear Scheifele's response to if he had ever felt atmosphere like in the Cologne arena? "Yes, MTS Centre" Noeller, Tony Fresco, Rich and 1 other 4
