Mike Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Looked into it after reading it on Riderfans this morning and there is a real concern that Richie might not be able to resume coaching this season due to some health issues. Not entirely sure what it is and don't really feel like we're in a position to know until he's ready for us to, but it sounds serious enough that it could prevent him from coaching. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a speedy recovery from whatever it is that is affecting Coach Hall. This is not good news, but for so many reasons other than football. Atomic Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Surprising that we haven't heard anything in Winnipeg. Hoping for the best for Richie.
JCon Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 This is really bad news. I hope he gets better really soon.
Noeller Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 absolutely brutal....here's hoping he and his fam are going to be alright... Tracker 1
mbrg Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 All of the above. Very surprising, hope it's not serious, hope for a strong and speedy rebound.
Nickthesizz Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Hypothetically if Richie can't go, who would coach the defense? someone internally or would they bring somebody else in?
Pete Catan's Ghost Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Compassionate thoughts go out to RH and family.

I believe LB coach Glen Young is already very involved with the defence and O'Shea obviously has lots of knowledge there as well. Noeller 1
Goalie Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Stubler probably or is he in Toronto still. I don't doubt the story but at the same time would like to hear it from a source with the bombers. If true... hope all Is well with coach. If not true... well, that's pretty evil. LeBird 1
The Unknown Poster Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 terrible news. Hope he makes a full recovery. If its something that isnt a career-ender maybe they'd keep it in-house with Hall "advising"...?
M.O.A.B. Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 (edited) I want to see what Missick can do as DC he paid his due or how about Tim Burke? Edited May 10, 2017 by M.O.A.B.
Noeller Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 absolutely zero chance you bring in a new guy at this point. It's someone within the system to just carry on with what they're doing. At any point, this seems like entirely the wrong time to be speculating on that sort of thing. Let's just keep it to "Hope Coach Hall is okay, and will recover soon!" I doubt Mike would have started this post if there was nothing to the story. Just got to hope it's nothing too serious and Ritchie pulls through it ok.
holoman Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Have the bombers officially announced their coaching staff? I know they announced Costello as the Oline coach, but this may be why it hasn't been announced.
WinnipegGordo Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 FWIW, he was walking around at mini-camp with a cane.
Jimmy Pop Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Mostly just reiterating what others have said..... but best wishes to Richie & his family. Life - is far more important than sports. Here's to hoping whatever is going on turns out okay.
do or die Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Health and Family. Everything else is smaller potatoes..... Noeller, Dee Urban Hermit, Atomic and 3 others 6
Jacquie Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 I hope he will be okay. He lives in Regina in the off-season, doesn't he. I guess that could be why it hit RiderFans before the media here has heard anything. 4 hours ago, Goalie said: Stubler probably or is he in Toronto still. Stubler wasn't kept on by Trestman. Chamblin is the Argos DC.
M.O.A.B. Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 I thought someone mentioned before that Hall and Stubler both employ bend-dont break D
IC Khari Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 Speedy recovery to Coach Hall, get better first, football second ... SPuDS, Tracker and blue_gold_84 3
GCn20 Posted May 12, 2017 Report Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) A friend of mine knows Richie well and says he should be good to go this season if his recovery stays on track...which it has. His attendance at mini camp was a very good sign apparently. He wouldn't tell me what the medical problem was out of respect for his friend, but did confirm that it is not life threatening.
