Fatty Liver Posted November 30, 2016 Report Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Duncan was on their P.R. at the end of the season. Edited November 30, 2016 by Throw Long Bannatyne
Nolby Posted November 30, 2016 Report Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Was hoping he'd be a Canadian so he could challenge Rory for his spot. ( I know it's still very early ) Edited November 30, 2016 by Nolby
Noeller Posted December 12, 2016 Author Report Posted December 12, 2016 #Bombers have let it leak that Nichols wants $450,000 per season after being named Winnipeg's most outstanding player - @PentonKirk #CFL

Noeller Posted December 12, 2016 Author Report Posted December 12, 2016 for what it's worth, Steve Morley figures they'll settle on 415....
17to85 Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 what players want and what players get usually winds up being wildly different. I'd be tempted to play some hardball and say "we're not paying you more than BLM cause you ain't no BLM, what are you going to do? Go play in the Montreal gong show?" wbbfan 1
TBURGESS Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 For what it's worth, I think he's worth 350-375K and I'd rather see low base/high bonuses. I don't think they are close to signing him yet. When asked at the '3 year extension' presser, Walters waited about 5 seconds before answering the question... "Are you confident that Nichols will be back next year". wbbfan 1
Tracker Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 I still do not think we would lose that much with Glenn at the helm, and Durant may well be available. Thus, if Nichols is unrealistic about his value, let him test the market. wbbfan and Mr Dee 2
Jpan85 Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 That is old news. Nichols already denied it. Mark F and SPuDS 2

Brandon Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 Had he took the team and won the cup... he would of a case. Nobody will be paying him that kind of money.

blueingreenland Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 375,000 seems about right to me. Win us a Grey Cup and then ask for a salary is the 400's range. The only guy in the league who might be making 400,000 or more and who hasn't won a Grey Cup would be Zach Collaros (just my guess). All the others - Ricky Ray, Mike Reilly, Henry Burris, Darian Durant, and BLM all have cups. (Not sure about J. Jennings either). My point is- one season with a 3rd place finish isn't enough.

Jpan85 Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 Looks like Tony Burnett is making the rounds around the NFL Minnesota last week, New Orleans today and on to Washington. Khali Bass was also at work out in New Orleans. wbbfan 1

Well, maybe not Matt Bucknor... rebusrankin and wbbfan 2
Noeller Posted December 12, 2016 Author Report Posted December 12, 2016 http://www.bluebombers.com/2016/12/12/224288/ Interesting tidbit: Asked about Glenn, Walters said: “The point of this discussion is who is the quarterback you want to hang your hat on as your starter, which is Matt Nichols, and then the development of the young guys, which is Dom. Kevin fits somewhere right in the middle. “We all think very highly of Kevin Glenn in this organization, but it is a business and we need to get Matt Nichols sorted out contractually and see where that number is. I’ll talk to Kevin’s agent and tell him this is where we see him fitting in and this is the price range we have… is it a good fit or is it not a good fit. That’s a discussion down the road. “It’s almost a separate entity when you’re looking at your salary cap and you’re looking at your roster. It’s what’s the number got to be for your starting quarterback and then what’s the domino effect for the rest of the roster. It would be really nice to get that piece into place so that you can figure out the rest.”
Floyd Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 Translation: We're offering you 100k a year and bonuses... but you'll only see those bonuses if our season is a tire fire.
kelownabomberfan Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 This is how I'll feel if we lose Nichols after finally showing some ability to win games again:

Maybe Durant, Glenn is an option, Maybe pry Franklin out of Edmonton with a good offer, Would a guy trust Travis Lulay in the interm if you can get him free? I dunno seems like the position is in a much stronger place league wide than it has been in quite some time.
yogi Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 Glenn as a veteran backup is A-OK in my books. Only thing I ask is if we don't end up re-signing him, that we please trade him for "futures" to Edmonton just before he becomes a free agent. He's earned it.
Taynted_Fayth Posted December 13, 2016 Report Posted December 13, 2016 I suspect nichols will get 350-375K + incentives of around 50K (so 425K if he meets them all) which isnt's that bad cuz if he has a great season to meet the incentives he's worth 425K imo
