Atomic Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 http://bluebombers.com/article/blue-bom ... amp-roster The Winnipeg Blue Bombers continue to finalizer their training camp roster with the additions of import defensive linemen Zach Anderson and Marcus Hyde, along with import defensive backs Lamar ‘Marty’ Markett, Wesley Pendleton and Sam Pope. All five players will be on the field once rookie camp begins this afternoon.Anderson (6-2, 270, Northern Michigan, DOB: January 27, 1990 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan) was named first team All-GLIAC as a senior after finishing the season with 40 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one sack and one interception. He had a tryout with the Cleveland Browns earlier this year. Hyde (6-3, 242, William & Mary, DOB: October 24, 1988 in Manassas, Virginia) was claimed off waivers from the BC Lions earlier this month after finishing his collegiate career with 144 tackles and 18.5 sacks. A two-time All-Conference selection, Hyde’s 6.5 sacks as a senior ranked tied for third in the league, while his 4.7 tackles per game ranked sixth among defensive linemen. Markett (5-10, 162, South Carolina, DOB: September 7, 1989 in York, South Carolina) attended training camp with the Atlanta Falcons last season and recorded three tackles throughout the preseason before being among the team’s final cuts. A walk-on at South Carolina, Markett earned playing time on special teams before becoming a key member of the defence as a senior, recording 26 tackles and one pass knockdown. Pendleton (5-11, 180, Mississippi, DOB: November 29, 1989 in Natchez, Mississippi) played in 20 games with 16 starts at cornerback in two seasons at Ole Miss after transferring from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College where he was named first team All-State and the MACJC’s Most Valuable Defensive Back on top of being named a Junior College All-American. At Ole Miss, Pendleton recorded 19 tackles, one tackle for loss and six pass knockdowns. Pope (6-0, 192, Hampton, DOB: October 21, 1987 in St. Helena Island, South Carolina) attended training camp with the Montreal Alouettes in 2010 and the BC Lions in 2012 before joining the practice roster of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last October. At Hampton, Pope recorded 66 tackles and five interceptions in two seasons. The team also announced that Saint Mary’s University quarterback Ben Rossong will participate in the team’s training camp. Rossong sat out last season after transferring to Saint Mary’s from Western where he threw for 576 yards and three touchdowns in two seasons. The Blue Bombers have released import offensive lineman James Carmon. Goodbye Carmon, we hardly knew ye. Interesting choice for CIS QB to bring in!
Mike Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Poor James Carmon, I really liked him. Well, I nailed 3 out of 5 earlier today. Not bad.

sweep the leg Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 The timing of his release makes me he told the team he wasn't coming.

Jacquie Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 The timing of his release makes me he told the team he wasn't coming. Or he was released a while ago and it was just announced now. They've done that before.

Mike Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 So apparently, according to what I heard, Carmon asked for his release.
M.O.A.B. Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 So apparently, according to what I heard, Carmon asked for his release. just like Barbiasz did to us... man, i was looking forward to watch him oh well, pretty sure mack/moll will airlift prospects if needed be.
SPuDS Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 So apparently, according to what I heard, Carmon asked for his release. well thats a shame.. too bad, thought he had some solid potential.. was he better then Douglas or January or would he have been strictly depth?

I think they were bringing in imports to push both January and Douglas. Douglas is coming off a lost season - who knows where he's at physically (he was also never a shut down tackle to begin with). And the most I can say for January is that his play dramatically improved over the course of last season .. but he is, at best, an average tackle .. unfortunately he is also the most reliable (and definitely most seasoned) one we have on our roster at the moment.

Knowing Douglas was hurt and possibly not coming back to form (which, your right, wasn't ever truly stellar) and January is getting older, I can't see why Carmon wouldn't want to stick around and compete.. I thought Douglas was leagues ahead of the other guys we had at camp.. Or, I suppose its plausible Mack and co told him we were going non-imp at one tackle, leaving only one spot for a camp battle..
pigseye Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Bring back Carmon or was he just another Taormino, Mike seemed to like him.
Atomic Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Well they're trying Andre Douglas out, maybe he'll be better. He was pretty good in 2010, maybe not as good in 2011. We also still have Aderious Simmons on the PR.
17to85 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Seriously you necroed a thread just for that?
