The following players have been placed on the practice roster:

  • National offensive lineman Qadr Spooner
  • National receiver Derek Yachison
  • National linebacker Frank Renaud
  • International defensive lineman Padric Scott
  • International linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox
  • National kicker Felix Menard-Briere
  • International defensive back Abu Conteh
  • International receiver TJ Thorpe
  • International defensive back Robert Porter

Seems they could have put Conteh on the 6 game  and opened another spot but I guess eventually he was going to end up on the PR.  Not happy they cut Butcher.

1 free spot left for the PR. I expect renaud to be on the active roster for teams. Im surprised thorpe is on the PR and not on the IR. But we dont play week 1 so AR / PR isnt much important unless some one snipes one of  our young guys. (namely spooner maybe briere.)

That little son-of-a-gun Menard Briere is sticking on the pr....I like it but watch out for theft from other clubs....he's a keeper...Spooner hanging out there as well but a long term project might turn off some gms....Sad about Butcher and Intzandt....thought we would keep one for sure...Washington must have edged out Williams and Yachison is a nice surprise...The kid can ball....

I was rooting for Butcher, but either you have the right stuff or you don't.

I think that had far more to do with the amount of depth in front of him. Johnson, jake, nevis and ekakitie he had nearly no chance of beating out 3 of those guys going in. And johnson was one of our best linemen.

I will reserve judgement until it is official but if we start both Jake Thomas and Sam Hurl, I will be disappointed.

They might do this just for the sake of flexibility

During the game against the Esks Doug Brown said that Butcher looker like an o lineman in this league, wouldn't be the first to switch sides to further his career.

I had a hunch Poop would stick...This guy can be a force down the road....Can't keep em all I guess and we released some fairly good talent but overall I think Walters and company are going in the right direction....Thought for sure Thorpe was done after his last injury but it must not be that serious and we'll see him sooner than latter

I get that and I am not as hard on Hurl as most but would it not make more sense to start Johnson at DT and then have either Thomas and Ekakitie rotate in in a pinch than start Thomas and then have the ability to sub Johnson in if he were to be hurt? Frankly, I think Thomas is nearly on the same level as Hurl but is far less maligned because he has succeeded with limited reps and DT is a far less visible position than MLB.

it doesnt much matter who starts as far as imps go. We will rotate DL a good bit. Last year we had hurl come in for an extra imp db frequently. We will see some thing similar this year. This way we gain an extra DI. (8 starting ni)

SHEPPARD..DANIELS..LIGGENS ALL cut...now who fills that bog bodied receiver that Lapo and his offence apparently need/like?? or is there going to be a more vertical attack?

not happy with the release of both those guys...but whatever i guess

wonder who the 4th import startrer is

Overall this is our deepest team we've had in years and probably the best depth we've had at NI. For that I'll give Walters a lot of credit he's built a good fundamental team.

I was thinking earlier that, on paper, this sure seems like a really good team. I'm curious to see what the actual "starting line up" is, think think that we, as fans, put too much stock in who is out there for the first reps. There is a lot of rotating throughout a game.

Overall absolutely, but it remains to be seen if Hurl will be our undoing. It will take a lot of lane discipline from the front four to compensate.

I like Hurl as depth and ST but obviously he's one of coach O'sheas guys. We brought in competition to push him but I think O'shea more or less had him pencilled in from the start.

That's exactly where he should stay. The linebacker position can't be trumped by flexibility in this case. Be flexible somewhere else.

I think Walters missed the boat with Alex Singleton. He seems to be doing very well in Calgary.
