peggars Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 (edited) I have always been interested in the cap structure of the CFL and player salaries etc. In 5 minutes i put together a 46 man roster with a 10 man practice roster that costed out each position and backups. * = starting non-imports. For practice roster i included a 750$ allowance per week for all 10 practice roster players for the 18 week season. For the 2 non-dressers, i put them both at league minimum ($53,000) for the year. Be interested to see what other people put down for fun. This was a great procrastination game while i stare down project work i have to submit tomorrow . BTW, my salaries came up to $5,149,000. EDIT: Included a 250,000 allowance for 1 game injured list. Atomic Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 I think there would probably be about a 150k-250k buffer for injuries and late signings. It's an interesting hypothetical breakdown. But it is hard to make it so pretty like that when you factor in Canadians. You're going to have backups making 100k and some American starters making minimum to 80k, with exceptions for stars like Randle, Dressler, etc. Like for example look at defensive tackle. Nevis probably got a pretty good contract in free agency but Cory Johnson may be closer to the minimum. Then the backups, Jake Thomas and Faith Ekakatie are both making closer to 100k+. And a lot of those backup Canadians we have on the roster are the same way. Thomas Miles, Mike Miller, Trent Corney, Michael Couture, Patrick Neufeld.... high draft picks or veterans on their 2nd or 3rd CFL contract so they're closer to 80-100k+ each. So that would throw off the whole hierarchical structure of the starters making the most, and each backup making less.
peggars Posted July 21, 2017 Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 i would encourage you copy, paste and tweak my 5-minute cap structure, be interesting to see if morningbigblue could develop as realistic of one as we think is possible.
Taynted_Fayth Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 (edited) Without knowing what they make this will be tough, I'll just go with starters for now with the above listed prices and ratio options; BLM (QB1) - $450K Arceneaux (WR1) - $180K Carter (WR2) - $130K Dressler (SB1) - $140K Zylstra (SB2) - $110K Demski (SB3*) - $90K Bond (RG) - $110K Federkeil (RT*) - $150K Sorenson (C*) - $180K Chungh (LG*) - $160K Olafioye (LT) - $160K Sutton (RB) (though I'd take Harris first and foremost, and offer him more instead of having 3 FBs listed) - $75K anyone for FB - lets go with Lumbala as i think he blocks well - $63K Medlock (K/P) - $110K (would need to give him some off the books incentives) Butler (DE) - $90K (hoping hes on a cheap contract atm since he's a rookie/first contract) Evans (DL*) - $140K Nevis (DL) - $100K There's not a whole lot of NI DE's to take, most are DTs. Corney? but he wouldn't command $140K I'd take Lemon for that price Pruneau (SAM*) - $115K (I'm switching my NI from safety to SAM) Elimimian (MLB) - $160K Hebert (WIL) - $110K Randle (CB) - $120K Heath (HB) - $75K Stephens (S) - $110K Lee (HB) - $85K Evans (CB) - $84K so that totals; $3.437m for my starting 24 + Kicker and a FB of my 46 man roster; 20 players / remaining cap space of $1.712m = $85, 600 salaries per player or some top ups on a few and a some min. contracts for the back ups and teamers Edited July 21, 2017 by Taynted_Fayth

Is that supposed to be Courtney Stephen? If so, he is Canadian... Taynted_Fayth 1
GCn20 Posted July 21, 2017 Report Posted July 21, 2017 Not huge in the big scheme of things but the OP left out housing, medical, and per diems from the SMS cost.

If so, he is Canadian... with regards to LG and RG the OP put the RG as an import and LG as a NI, so it's just roster shuffling, and their salaries move with them. As for Stephen, if he's a NI even better! more ratio flexibility lol That may have me reconsider Pruneau at SAM for Leggett then bearpants 1
