Brandon Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Muamba should be a top priority and they should pay extra to keep the guy with us. If he doesn't live up to his contract we can always cut him or trade him for something.
Floyd Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Hopefully Walters realizes that we have to offer a big signing bonus for Muamba... or at least a competitive 'CFL style' contract instead ol' Mack's 'hardball' approach... I think Muamba will sign.
bluto Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 KBF nailed it on pg.1 with the new CBA yet to be finalized, there's just no telling how much money will be available under the SMS. any agent with twobrain cells to rub together wouldn't allow his client to sign anything* until they find out how much of an increase there will be. Walters has to try... and likely is willing to give very fair terms considering how vital a spot HM now occupies in their roster and plans going forward... but i doubt even Walters doubts he'll get him inked until the new CBA drops. there very well may be lots of intriguing player movement come February when GMs flex their expanded spending power. *the exception of course being a contract which is either too huge to pass on... or perhaps a creative GM will offer a deal which is indexed to the coming increase in SMS
DR. CFL Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Feb. will be the tell tale and players figuring this will be a big FA payday. More so with a further depleted number of NIMPs and an additional team.
iso_55 Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Free agency starts in December, doesn't it?
DR. CFL Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Feb. 15 th. expansion draft is Dec.
Jacquie Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Free agency starts in December, doesn't it? December is when Ottawa can start signing free agents.
braddman19 Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 So then could Ottawa sign Henoc in December? Or is he our property (for lack of better term) until a later date?
SPuDS Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 So then could Ottawa sign Henoc in December? Or is he our property (for lack of better term) until a later date? i would imagine contracts effectively expire feb 15th.. i think, anyway.. or whatever day fa starts..
iso_55 Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Probably free agents in December that don't have teams... but... then... so.. can we. It's all confusing.
Jacquie Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 So then could Ottawa sign Henoc in December? Or is he our property (for lack of better term) until a later date? No, not potential free agents, actual free agents. The December date is basically the date that Ottawa is open for business and can start signing players but they don't have access to other team's potential free agents until February like every other team.
JuranBoldenRules Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Probably free agents in December that don't have teams... but... then... so.. can we. It's all confusing. It's no different than any off-season. Ottawa will draft 3 players from each team in December, other than that everything is normal.
17to85 Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Probably free agents in December that don't have teams... but... then... so.. can we. It's all confusing. Ottawa will have to wait until December just so as not to be signing people while the current season is still going on. It's really nothing more than an official date when Ottawa is actually part of the league.
DR. CFL Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 The dispersal draft for Ottawa is December. That has nothing to do with free agents. Players currently under contract become free agents on Feb. 15th.
James Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Anybody else notice that Henoc has a crazy 7 TFL already? And that he's only 24? I certainly hope we better any offer he has no matter the cost.

Players currently under contract become free agents on Feb. 15th. but what is being discussed are players who aren't under contracts right now who are free agents. Aaron Kelly would be a player who is a recent example of that.

iso_55 Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 I'm just guessing but TFL may mean, Tackles For Loss.
