DR. CFL Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Are people getting tired off hearing the TSN blow Sheets' horn. I think reality is starting to kick in for him. He oiled up a whack of yards early on against teams with poor run defences. Then all this mathematical projection crap started. Well his numbers are now decreasing per game and while he is a good back lets calm down. On a similar note I am also tired off one catch per game Geroy Simon for prime minister. His past days are gone. Sure he is a veteran presence but is no longer the go to guy. Donald Narcisse dragged this one catch per game streak on way to long. My stars any receiver worth his salt should get one reception per game or people should question why the guy is on the roster.
sweep the leg Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Sheets put up close to 1,300 yards last year, and will improve greatly on that this year. So yes, he's the real deal.
DR. CFL Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 Well he break Pringle's record?
17to85 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 You can be the real deal and be overhyped. He had a lot of success early, but now that teams have clued in you see what the Bombers did, take away the riders run game and make them beat you in other ways. HIs on pace numbers were unsustainable just because no runningback goes through an entire season putting up that kind of yards per game without defenses saying "OK let's focus on stopping that guy"
sweep the leg Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Well he break Pringle's record? I don't think so, but it will be close. You're right that their schedule at the start of the season was much easier than it will be for the rest of the year.
IC Khari Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 He's the real deal (in his own mind)
robynjt Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 He's one of the best RBs in the CFL, so yes, he is "the real deal". TSN overhypes anything Saskatchewan so I don't know why you're surprised. Good thing is, he'll probably leave for the NFL next year.
BBlink Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Do I think he is a good running back? Absolutely yes. He is very shifty and has great vision. Also can shed tackles. He has great patience to wait until a hole opens up and then hits it with pretty good speed. That said. I don't think he is the be all-end all. His style of running is very much predicated on a great offensive line. The Bombers were able to disrupt his running by sending blitzes. There were too many times where he sat back behind the line waiting for something to open up, but the blitz got to him first.
Chaosmonkey Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 That said. I don't think he is the be all-end all. His style of running is very much predicated on a great offensive line. The Bombers were able to disrupt his running by sending blitzes. There were too many times where he sat back behind the line waiting for something to open up, but the blitz got to him first. Which is backed up by the fact he had almost as many receiving yards as he did rushing. When he would chip a pass rusher and open up for the screen, no one was going with him because they were pinning their ears back and at the end of the day that strategy worked great.
Jpan85 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 I prefer Jon Cornish later in the year he will be more effective DR. CFL and Onyenegecha 2
Onyenegecha Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 I prefer Jon Cornish later in the year he will be more effective This. Sheets is an AWESOME back. But if I had a choice, I go with Cornish first. Even without the passport, but especially with. But I do think he's the second best back in the league, with all due respect to Andrew Harris.
Jimmy Pop Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Wait, are you suggesting someone on the Riders is being overhyped by The Saskatchewan Network? Naaaaah, that couldn't be!
tacklewasher Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Wait, are you suggesting someone on the Riders is being overhyped by The Saskatchewan Network? Naaaaah, that couldn't be! With the Riders losing to the Bombers, could this be the week the TSN2 Fans Choice Game of the Week tonight is not a Riders game?

Floyd Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Well, it seems that Chris Best is a lot more important to that OL than anyone thought... I would move Heenan back to RG if I was Sask while Best is out. But yeah, 1200 yards by September is the real deal. I guess the question now is more about Chad Simpson unfortunately...
17to85 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 I guess the question now is more about Chad Simpson unfortunately... Simpson is legit, no runningback would be having success in Winnipeg this season. James 1
Jacquie Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 And the things being said about TSN overhyping Sheets are the same things that fans from other teams complained about when TSN was all Swaggerville, Swaggerville, Swaggerville.
DR. CFL Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 I agree but they get on something and go on and on and on. I know they need to fill air time but mix it up a it guys. Atomic 1
rebusrankin Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Define Real Deal? All-Star? Yes. All time great ala say Pringle? No.
iso_55 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Look at Sheets stats. he has 60 or 70 more carries than Cornish with a lower ypc average. If the Stamps fed Jon the ball like the Riders do Sheets then Cornish would be almost a hundred yards ahead. Anyway, both are extremely good backs but as usual TSN overdoes it with Sheets...
Zontar Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 TSN was fellating Ray up until his injury. I'd say Sheets or Corny are a distant second for TSN man-love. With Ray hurt and Sheets numbers levelling off TSN will be on the hunt for a new john. Please dont let it be Burris, Fantuz or Ellingson.
iso_55 Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Bryant Turner & Charleston Hughes need to get more love from TSN.
tacklewasher Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Wait, are you suggesting someone on the Riders is being overhyped by The Saskatchewan Network? Naaaaah, that couldn't be! With the Riders losing to the Bombers, could this be the week the TSN2 Fans Choice Game of the Week tonight is not a Riders game? Nope. Got this one wrong.

Others have disareed with me in the past, But I think Chris Best is a top 5 Gaurd in this league.
