I now understand why my Mom always would bring her big purse to the movies when I was a child. We continue that tradition as I don't feel like dropping $100+ dollars on popcorn and drinks when instead we can go to Dollarama/WalMart and get a whole lot more of snacks for only a fraction of the price. This is Junxion I'm sure if it was the older theatre the stuff would have been less expensive I'm talking about, but it also serves me right for getting additional food like a chicken sandwich and the cheese curds, I better resist the urge to order food when I go see Mufasa next month (just Water and Popcorn) or maybe I'm just also too greedy about earning Scene Points FrostyWinnipeg 1

A kids combo which was a tiny bucket of popcorn a candy and a small drink was $25. This is why we used to (and still do) buy the packages from Costco which cut the costs quite a bit.

They didn't exactly have much variety in their menu though (let alone booze)

The Chi-chi's on Regent Ave used to be very busy and very successful back in the day. I remember always having to wait for a table and the free taco chips and salsa and everyone 'wow'ing over the sizzling fajitas that were being served. I do remember it being a good experience with good food. Eventually the owner sold it at its peak and the new owners had no clue how to run a restaurant and within 2 years they lost their franchise and renamed it to a different Mexican name and then closed shop not much later. I'm always amazed that nobody has set up a Tex-Mex shop since then. Super Duper Negatron 1
Bubba Zanetti Posted December 5 Report Posted December 5 Loved Chi-chi's as a kid. Very nostalgic for me. Went there many times with my parents. The fried ice cream was a fav. Blew my mind! How can they fry ice cream?!?!? Lol. Always seemed to be a busy place.
