But you wonder how / if they keep Kane and Toews long term if they aren't a playoff contending team. How do you rebuild with 20% of your cap tied up in 2 players? You cant trade them either. Cap hits are 2 high. Crawford being hurt is killing them.

Kane is tradeable. He's still an elite player. Toews has put in some hard miles though, and it's starting to show. I wouldn't want him with that contract.

Not many teams have space for what? 10.5 million a year? A few do for sure but Id imagine if Toews or Kane have any sort of NTC.. Those teams are on it. Carolina for example... I could see Toews interest there.. Would he agree to go there tho? I'd bet not. Edited February 13, 2018 by Goalie
Atomic Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 Yeah... any perennially struggling club like Arizona, Carolina, or Florida would be crazy to turn down Toews, even at 10.5 mil for the next 5 years.
Jimmy Pop Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 It'll be interesting to watch, a) as a Toews fan & fan of the local guys and b ) more importantly with CHI being a rival. of course it's all moot if Hawks win lottery, draft Dahlin, win 3 more Cups. It's crossed out, so it can't happen thankfully.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 DId they get their contracts before Cup 2 and 3?

Well if they are blowing things up in Chicago, who knows what he wants? Lots of guys like to go to those southern teams. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't.

Exactly why Vancouver has sucked so badly for so long. The twin boat anchors using up all the cap space. Jimmy Pop 1

Brandon Posted February 14, 2018 Report Posted February 14, 2018 How many years left on his contract?
Jimmy Pop Posted February 14, 2018 Report Posted February 14, 2018 I'm not typing the "p" word, so it can't be bad luck.... https://www.nhl.com/jets/tickets/playoffs-reservations?camefrom=EMCL_2105073_87970016
