Jpan85 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 I like taking the flier on Bilukidi when he did .. middle round seems appropriate .. especially when you have a full complement of draft picks. Mulumba on the other hand was a reach we couldn't afford to take .. hindsight being what it is, it would have been nice if Mack had listened to Walters and taken Edem with that pick. Have to imagine it would be difficult to justify signing Cauchy Muamba, while drafting Edem. Now, imagine if we listened to Walters, drafted Edem, and threw our FA money at an O-Lineman... Blue Bomber Marketing Campaign for next year, use this concept but its all the moves that Mack did not make. Example: What if Mack could of found a quarterback that could read a blitz?
17to85 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 What if Mack could of found a quarterback that could read a blitz? he did, but Tim Burke didn't like him. Blue-urns, BigBlueFanatic and Logan007 3
Logan007 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 What if Mack could of found a quarterback that could read a blitz? he did, but Tim Burke didn't like him. What you did there. I saw it, and I liked it. ....literally...I liked it. I pressed the like button on the right hand side of your post.
JuranBoldenRules Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Matt Norman stunk at guard. BC was extremely desperate and he stood in relatively well. They didn't really have another option, and they've been in that position where they are tossing guys to the wolves for several seasons now, including bringing in a guy who had essentially been banished from the league (Jesse Newman), dressing a coach who had been retired (Kelly Bates), bring in a 450 lb'er who couldn't play on the worst line in the league (Kabongo) and Angus Reid, who they've been trying to replace since 2009. Norman is a good fit at centre because he is never going to fire out of his stance and move someone, at his best he'll get in the way and maybe seal a gap in the run game at least get his ass toward the ball, but you hardly see BC run anything but off-tackle because to try to hide their OL.
17to85 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 and let's not forget how the BC o-line is getting Lulay killed this year, they're hardly setting the world on fire.
SPuDS Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 and let's not forget how the BC o-line is getting Lulay killed this year, they're hardly setting the world on fire. yea i would rank em middle of the pack this season for o-line play.. Toronto, saskabush, calgary would probably be my top 3 with hammy and bc and mtl average and of course us n edm horrid..
Blueandgold Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 For his age/experience, Norman is doing very well. If we inserted Greaves, Norman would be starting here as well, no doubt. Maybe if Norman and Jones are here, Pencer is at RT...? I am confused at the over-estimate of Pencer at RG, yet kind of bashing Norman... Neufeld is struggling this year but I thought was 'okay' at Tackle last year... probably because of his RG support though. Regardless, Smith and Woodson are no longer here... not sure if Parenteau is that much better than Neufeld given age, etc. Bilukidi and Mulumba are fine picks if you are Calgary or someone like that, Winnipeg needed help right now and Mack picked long-shots. I like taking the flier on Bilukidi when he did .. middle round seems appropriate .. especially when you have a full complement of draft picks. Mulumba on the other hand was a reach we couldn't afford to take .. hindsight being what it is, it would have been nice if Mack had listened to Walters and taken Edem with that pick. He was considered highly unlikely to make the Packers. It was actually a pretty good pick at the time.
Atomic Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Joel Reinders signed with the Ticats
Mike Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Joel Reinders signed with the Ticats At least we got Polywhirl or whatever. Atomic 1

Which FA OL did you want last year? Good Point. There were none available. I just wish we had a better safety, I guess. Edem appears to be at least as good right now, with potential to be much better.
Floyd Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Mark Dewitt, I thought, was a good FA pickup... just wonder what the deal was with his back? Was it that bad that we couldn't even keep him around... cutting him so early was strange.
Coachjd51 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Mark Dewitt, I thought, was a good FA pickup... just wonder what the deal was with his back? Was it that bad that we couldn't even keep him around... cutting him so early was strange. He wasn't one of Delmonico's "guys". Delmonico has a weird loyalty to the guys who worked out with him through the winter and spring. Mark got exactly one rep 12 on 12 during the first two days of camp. The back was not an issue at that time, he was just basically ignored by Delmonico. The back flared up later. Winnipeg screwed Dewit over buy cutting him the day before he was going to see a back specialist, at the request of the trainer. Dewit was fighting through back issues, but was cut while injured, left with no CFL coverage for rehab. Basically a screw job from day one.

I highly doubt that the Bombers were as big of an enemy in this situation that you're making them out to be.
Coachjd51 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I'd be happy to expand on anything that I have written.
Noeller Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I'd be happy to expand on anything that I have written. Whether it's true or not, you really come across as a bitter former-insider, who's just coming here to create some drama. Gotta just move on...

Whether it's true or not, you really come across as a bitter former-insider, who's just coming here to create some drama. Gotta just move on... No, not bitter. I still have a keen interest in the team and want success for them, especially certain member of the oline. I just answered a question...
TrueBlue Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I'd be happy to expand on anything that I have written. No need. I get that, if true, this situation could have been handled differently. There no victims in professional sports though. He is just an unlucky casualty of the business.

No question, Pro sports is a goofy business at the best of times. It's just tough to see a team struggle like this, when you know that many of the wounds are self inflicted.
Atomic Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 No matter, DelMonaco will be gone soon enough
17to85 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Keep Dickenson, flush the rest of this coaching staff down the drain.
TrueBlue Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Keep Dickenson, flush the rest of this coaching staff down the drain. Yeah but are you going to hire a new head coach based on an ultimatum that he keeps the current ST Coordinator?

I can't see any head coach not wanting to keep a guy on staff who is that highly regarded around the league as a special teams coordinator.

I'd just let go of that dream. He's not leaving Calgary.

That's would be a pretty careless way to think if you were the GM don't you think?
