For everyone talking about signing re-treads like Kilgore or Gale...  the Bombers signed Alex Ross - he was essentially the best 'Cfl experienced' QB still out there, we don't need another one

He isnt in that category. he dressed for 4 games and completed 5 passes. Kilgore only played a few more games but atleast started etc. Mitchell gale made it through 4 years. The difference between 3 tcs, holding the clip board for 3-4 years is pretty big and being around for part of a year is pretty big. Cato, played in 22 games  went 296/432 (69%) 3570 yards 17 tds 11 ints and ran for 319.

I dont particularly want either kilgore or gale short of a serious long term qb injury to 2 guys. Even then Id rather kick the tires around the league on some one with a pulse.

I kind of doubt that Montreal cuts their cfl experience guy.

Whatever happens to Cato?

Cato just slipped out of football. Sat last year. Hes the best of a bleak crop of whats available right now.

Montreal has done stupider stuff than that.

We can never under estimate the stupid of the reed lead als.

I think Streveler could run a mean short yardage unit. He’s big and he’s runs a 4.5 40...

His best time was a mid 4.4 but that pretty much wraps up his speed. He has wr / borderline wr speed, fantastic leaping ability, in a big strong frame. He is exactly the type of guy you dream of as a 3rd stringer, short yardage qb and holder. He also has the kind of raw talent in his arm to make you dream of warren moon. If we close camp with nichols, ross, and streveler as our active qbs its not an issue imop. As long as both ross and streveler show well in camp and progress.

The same Cato who had the ridiculously high % of passes that could of been intercepted. No thanks. I'll take a mentally strong guy with no experience and draw up a simple short yard playbook instead.

thats pro sports. when nichols was on his streak of games with no pic he was having dbs drop passes atleast once a game. Not to mention how many pics some hof qbs threw. (danny mac aka mcpick, or ac in the year prior to MTL)

Based on who they're bringing to camp, Willy should be their starter.

my money is on freeman. Dont know where willy is with shellshock. But even if his head is in the right place mtl will just ruin a few more qbs this year any way.

We should check in with Dan Lefevour. At least he can run a good short yardage and knows the offense .

I will second that

Tharold Simon is legit.  Played at LSU.... good size, good speed, NFL experience.  Usually these last-minute additions are guys they've been waiting on for awhile and finally decided to come up to Canada.  Really nice addition.

Seems like the kind of size that can develop into a Sam linebacker down the road.

Bombers just cut Coates.

#Bombers have released National receiver Matt Coates. Following a 100-yard game in the playoffs, Coates was just short of being a stone cold lock as the starting X receiver for 2018. But after breaking his foot while training during the offseason, Winnipeg has decided to move on.

They'll probably bring him back once his foot has recovered.  Bad luck and bad timing.  Medlock needs to work with a new holder who can stay healthy.

Maybe. Couldn't they just put him on the suspended list if they wanted to keep him and free up a camp spot?

I don't get it. We've got one guy with a history of injuries, a 2nd year player with barely any game time, and a few rookies, and that's what we want to get two starters out of?

Probably should have kept JFG at least.
