I think there have been some guys who made the cuts easy on the coaches and some guys who really jumped off the page. Man Montgomery had a game, but the position is so stacked already....

He made some plays, but particularly in the 2nd half the BC QB had too much time back there.

There was not enough consistent pressure.

There was a ton of pressure back there all game long.

Yep. But he will be a starter, not a backup.

The posted you quoted

Mentioned our 4 starting DBs.. Our 1 Safety and our 1 SAM. Plus 3 backup spots.  Cooper. Walker. Conteh. Throw in D Jones also

he will be the sam yes. its probably that when mo comes back if he is back to his old self he will play HB and fenner will stay at sam.

I think cooper will play his want into a DI role with teams work, and conteh as well.

So if you have Fenner replacing Leggett, and Gaitor replacing Heath, and everything else in the secondary remaining the same, is that really an upgrade?

This is a secondary that has been the worst in the CFL for the last 2 years in many categories (other than generating turnovers).

Yes. Its an upgrade.

Also theres more to DBs then what you think.. The D works as a unit... Our Safety loffler was a hybrid LB last year cuz Hurl sucked... Bighill at MLB will make a huge difference.

The secondary will be upgraded a great deal just by having deep cover help. bighill can play a 2 deep spot, and will cover a lot of ground under loffler who will go back to play a deep cover. Also it will be better from not having health gamble a lot. Gaitor is a gigantic ugprade over starting last year with roc etc, and with a second year for alexander. + with all the pressure we can create and actually having guys who can pass rush on blitzs from the LBing core the amount of time qbs have will go down.

So yes. And if mo comes back and is his hold self or close to it the difference is gigantic.

OK. I can buy that.

It will be interesting to see how it works out next week.

They will need to be tougher both against giving up explosion plays, but also about being passive and letting teams move the ball down the field.

If they can't do that, the reality is that these games without Nichols will be blowouts, and not in a good way for the Bombers.

I wouldnt be shocked if a big name is cut or traded (OKP)

Jeffcoat Roh Montgomery and others makesm less. Salary cap might play a factor

agree montgomery right now might be better then jeffcoat was at this time last year. I think ogopogo is going to fall victim to younger cheaper guys with more up side. Corney seems to have turned the corner as well. With him and thomas I think the writing is on the wall for ekakitie.

Kyrie wilson showed well too. Cant make the club from the tub, augustin has been good and lafrance has missed a lot might start out on the 6 game.

rueben randle, kenbrell, and white we probably keep 2. One might end up stealing a job.

They did a really great job against bcs starters when the offense moved the ball. They just got wore down when the B team wrs came out and the offense ground to a halt.

With those DBs, bighill JSK poop nevis jeffcoat roe and montgomery the D looks scary good.

In reality the D didn't do that badly all game.

Difference was 2 defensive TDs for the Lions, but that is the type of thing they will have to endure every game while Nichols is out.

Reality is that if the O gives up one or 2 defensive TDs every game the defense has to play perfect for the whole game and shut the other team out to have a chance to win.

And if the O goes too conservative and doesn't take risks to move the ball. then there will just be 2 and outs, the defense will be on the field too long, and will get worn out and cave.

That has been the Bomber swan song for most of the last two decades.
