Blueandgold Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Lemon has to be a guy who's played for almost every team in the league by now. If my memory serves me correctly, he's done Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Ottawa, Toronto, and now BC. Just missing Hamilton & Montreal.

Nickthesizz Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 (edited) Very happy by this. Edited July 24, 2018 by Gotmilt BigBlueFanatic, blue85gold, Dr Zaius and 3 others 6
voodoochylde Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 While I like Flanders (and know he's on the 6 game IR), he doesn't bring anything different to this offense (certainly nothing that sets him apart from Demski). Definitely happy to see a guy like Tompkins getting reps. Sucks that Fenner is still down though.

He’s a running back who is a decent option in the short and screen passing game. blue85gold 1
voodoochylde Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 No clue .. though I know several people / posters who have wanted to get him on the field. Doesn't do it for me.
Mr Dee Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 (edited) The kid’s fast on the field..chasing, and now he’s quick off the field. Probably a good decision. Edited July 24, 2018 by Mr Dee

Difference is the occasional time Demski runs the ball it's an enormous surprise to the D. As a direct replacement for Harris there would be little fall-off with Flanders and a cliff before Demski. But that's not really what we're discussing .. it doesn't matter if Flanders is the best direct replacement for Harris (which I'd argue he isn't given that Harris is a NI and we have both LaFrance and Augustine on the roster as well), we're looking to replace Bowman's "production" Bigblue204 and Nickthesizz 2
Brandon Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Flanders won't be replacing him why can't we all move on from that? We should be excited to see Tompkins in action ! Nickthesizz, Bigblue204, TBURGESS and 1 other 1 3
Floyd Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 So Tompkins - being a rookie - equals one more loss...?

The issue with your argument is the bombers would never replace Harris with Demski, Demski is a change of pace back and slotback. The next logical replacement in my mind is Lafrance then Augustine. If neither of those work out we could reshuffle the roster and have Peterman or Simonise come in with Flanders starting at rb. blue85gold 1
Booch Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Thats what a lot of old school coaches claim...tho more suits a real rookie who is in his first year of ball...as opposed to a 4 year NFL vet who has logged significant playing time.. blue85gold and SPuDS 1 1
Blueandgold Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 As a Flanders fan, I look forward to seeing what Tompkins can do. I'm just happy we aren't inserting Lankford. Wanna-B-Fanboy 1

Flanders takes his runs like a traditional running back, while Demski takes his off of sweeps, end around and trick plays.

Demski has lined up in the backfield with some regularity this season. Albertabomberguy and Nickthesizz 1 1
Floyd Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Whoever replaces bowman is no going to be a primary target anyway... need a blocker and someone with sure hands
Mark F Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 (edited) Flanders receiving definitely very reliable receiver. gp target receptions yards average long touchdown yac 18 49 42 354 8.4 33 3 241 easy to see why they keep him. Edited July 24, 2018 by Mark F

17to85 Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Well I for one was hoping it would be Thompkins who got the reps when Bowman was dealt. Felt he showed some good things in the pre-season including the penalty he took on the block coming back to the line. Yeah it's a penalty, but you know a guy who is willing to do that is not going to slack off when he gets a chance. Nickthesizz and blue85gold 2
