Mr Dee Posted August 4, 2018 Report Posted August 4, 2018 Game Day Notes - CFL.ca BC @ Calgary - How Dominant is Calgary? Up by 14+ Pts: One way of measuring a team's sustained level of dominance is how often they take big leads. The Stamps have led in EVERY contest this season by 14 or more points and this it is now 6 games in a row. In CFL history only two teams have EVER led by 14+ points in more than 6 consecutive games: Bombers - 1982 - 7 games Lions - 2011 - 7 games - Calgary Field Position #1: The Stamps lead the CFL in starting point for their drives - they begin on average at their own 40-yard line compared to the other 8 clubs whose average is just the 35-yd line. That increment of 5 yards per possession by season's end would equate to an extra 1,300 yards of Offence - or stated differently other clubs would have to gain 1,300 more yards to have the same shorter field to cover. Calgary opponents have to gain 15% more Net Offence yards just to make up for this differential. Calgary's Rank in starting FP by year - 2012: #2, 2013: #2, 2014: #1, 2015: #1, 2016: #2, 2017: #2, 2018: #1. - 6-0 CFL Teams since 1998: The Stampeders have started 6-0, an accomplishment matched by only FIVE CFL teams in the last 20 years prior to 2018 (Montreal in 2002, 2004 & 2006 plus Saskatchewan in 2008 and Edmonton in 2017). Calgary was last 6-0 in 1995 when they had a 7-0 start. They have reached 7-0 FOUR times in their history (1948, 1949, 1993 & 1995). - Jordan Herdman: Recorded 12 defensive tackles in BC's last game stepping in for Solomon Elimimian. His 12 stops were the most by any first-time starter in CFL history covering the 1987 to 2018 seasons when Defensive Tackles first became an official stat. - Stampeders vs Lions: Calgary has won 4 in row and 8 of the last 9 meetings with BC. The Lions' last victory at McMahon Stadium came on August 1, 2014 with Kevin Glenn at QB. Glenn is the only BC Quarterback to lead them to a win at McMahon since July 2012 and Calgary is 7-1 vs BC at home since then. - 6-game win streaks as a starter: Bo Levi Mitchell has led Calgary to FIVE different win streaks of at least 6 games in his career. Only two other QBs have engineered more of these 6+ game winning runs for their club. QB Winning Streaks of 6 or more Games (In Same Season) Player - Anthony Calvillo 6 - Bo Levi Mitchell 5 - Doug Flutie 5 - Ken Ploen 4 - 11.3 / 10.2 Pts Allowed: Calgary is challenging a long-held CFL record having allowed only 11.3 total points per game thus far. In the entire CFL Era (1958 to today), the fewest TOTAL points allowed record is held by the 1964 BC Lions at 10.5 per game and followed by Hamilton (1965) at 10.9 ppg against. The second take on this record is DEFENSIVE POINTS ONLY ... For Points Allowed by their DEFENCE only, at 10.2 per game Calgary ranks #3 historically. 2018 10.17 4 (Calgary is on pace to allow the fewest Opponent offensive TDs in CFL history) 1958 10.63 22 - Travis Lulay 300+ / 4-2 W-L: Travis Lulay will be making his 3rd straight start and he comes in with back-to-back 300+ yard games. The only time in his CFL career that he has reached 300+ in 3 consecutive games was in July 2012 (Jul 14-28/12: 3405, 360 & 315). Since the start of 2017, the Lions are 4-2 when Lulay starts and 5-12 with Jonathon Jennings at QB. - Sacks in 23 straight games: Only Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton have registered at least one Sack in every game this season. Calgary has the longest active streak with at least one sack at 23 games dating back to the 2017 season opener. Calgary has recorded at least one Sack in 32 of their last 33 games. - Alex Singleton: Through Week #7 no player had a higher % of his team's defensive tackles. Singleton has made 35 of the 222 Calgary defensive tackles for a 15.8% share. Next: J.C. Sherritt at 14.4%, Adam Bighill at 14.3%. - Calgary at home: The Stampeders are 47-6 in their last 53 regular season home games back to September 2012. Their last 9 home victories have all been by double digit margins. - Kamar Jorden: Is one of only 4 CFL players with at least 4 receptions in every game this year (D.Walker, D.Williams, B.Sinopoli). - Emanuel Davis: Was blanked for interceptions last year after making 5 in 2016 & 2017. He has two this year already for Calgary. - Leads of 14+ points: Calgary has led in every game this season by at least 14 points. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ HardCoreBlue, Piggy 1, Eternal optimist and 1 other 2 2
NorthernSkunk Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 those BC uniforms tonight are ugly.....and watching them against the Calgary colours just makes it all worse.......
Booch Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 yeah but if they win Sask is in last place in West lol rebusrankin and Tracker 2
Eternal optimist Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 Man, it looks like it will never happen right now.... but I can't wait for Calgary to fall from grace.
Bubba Zanetti Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 All i hear is Mike Reilly is the best QB in the CFL. For my money its Bo-Levi Mitchell. He might not put up the gawdy stats Reilly does in Edmonton's duck n chuck offense but he just makes everything look so easy. Fatty Liver and The Classic 1 1

They're both good - but Reilly plays a riskier game, which has cost them before. Mitchell has a slightly better QB efficiency as it stands right now... but the best part? Manziel's efficiency rating is the worst in the league right now (-13.8).
Bubba Zanetti Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 Did i hear that right? Calgary D has 23 turnovers in 6.25 games? Dear lord.

JuranBoldenRules Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 BC getting their asses kicked and celebrating every sort of play they make. Look like a loser franchise. Bigblue204 1
Eternal optimist Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 Lol Calgary losing the time of possession battle at the half by scoring too quickly.
Doublezero Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 Cory Watson shouldve caught that throw from Lulay. He hasn't caught a pass in about 5 years. So glad he is long gone from here. blitzmore 1
Zontar Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 CAL is as good a team as any good team in recent memory.
Floyd Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 Devone Claybrooks is going to be a hall of fame coach someday...
BBRT Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 The thing that amazes me is how Calgary is able to bring in impact players, year or year. If you want to beat them or at least stay in the game you have to play error free ball - all game long. Half the players that started tonight for the Stamps were either new or year 2 players - they just seem to have an organization that can bring in impact players year over year.

Look like a loser franchise. The Lions and Als are in pretty much the same situation. The players on both teams have to know that they are boned for at least this year and are not going to make the playoffs or even compete in most games. You can talk all you want about pride and professionalism, but looking ahead to three more months of getting your butt kicked and having little to no confidence in the management and/or coaching to fix things has to make coming to work real difficult. You can celebrate small victories, but those ships are sinking.

You can include confidence in 'ownership' as well...When your head coach AND owner have one foot out of the door, it's difficult for players to see any long term future with this club..They're treading water at best Floyd 1

We weren't 15-3-1 or 14-4 playing far inferior teams in the GC like Ottawa & Toronto? How can you even make the same kind of comparison to what the Stamps did & have done choking more than winning after having dominant seasons? How many GC's have they blown since 1992??

I'm not comparing any of the years to just Calgary...... just to the fact our last win hasn't been a GC in awhile.

Most of us want and know we need a GC championship. Other than that, what's your point? Just my approach but as a lifelong Bomber fan I don't defend other teams by pointing out our deficiencies, doesn't feel right. WBBFanWest 1
rebusrankin Posted August 6, 2018 Report Posted August 6, 2018 Calgary since Huffer took over have been the standard. I would love for us to be like them and yes that does mean making the cup 5 times in 10 years and only winning 2. TBURGESS and Tracker 2
