Mr Dee Posted August 8, 2018 Report Posted August 8, 2018 GAME DAY NOTES CFL.ca Eskimos vs Lions: BC has dropped their last four meetings with Edmonton who won both visits to B.C. Place Stadium last year. BC's last win at home over the Esks came on Oct 22/16 with Jonathon Jennings at QB. - BC consecutive reception streaks: Emmanuel Arceneaux 108 straight games (of 109 career GP - held without a catch only on Nov 6/09); Bryan Burnham 53 games (all 53 of his career CFL games). - Travis Lulay: Lulay will be making his 4th straight start and he comes in averaging 311 passing yards per game. Since the start of 2017, the Lions are 4-3 when Lulay starts and 5-12 with Jonathon Jennings at QB. Lulay is #1 in the CFL having thrown just two INTs in 112 attempts. TD:INT Ratio - 2015-17: 1.26 to 1 (24:19); 2018: 2.00 to 1. Travis needs just 210 passing yards to become the CFL's 35th player to reach 20,000. - Manny Arceneaux 8,002: Became the third Lions' receiver to go over 8,000 career yards last week. He trails only Geroy Simon (14,756) and Jim Young (9,248) as the #3 receiving yardage leader in club history. In CFL history, he now ranks #45 all-time. - 2-4 Start: BC is trying to avoid dropping to 2-5 for the first time since 2011, and to be three full games out of 3rd place in the West. After 7 games last year, BC had started off 5-2 and since then have gone just 4-13 .235 ahead of only Montreal (1-16 .059). - Since October 2017: The Eskimos finished 2017 strongly with a 5-0 mark in October-November and a 12-6 record. Since that point Edmonton is 10-2 .833 overall behind only Calgary - Mike Reilly: Led the Eskimos to a 4th Quarter comeback victory, the 21st late game-winning drive of his CFL career. Reilly leads the CFL with 2,320 passing yards on pace for a career-high 5,965 yards. Reilly has 14 TD passes in 2018 and 131 in his career; his overall ratio is 131 TDs to 72 INTs, a ratio of 1.82 to 1. Reilly leads the CFL with 24 completions on throws of 20+ yard depth. - Chris Rainey: Did not play last week snapping a consecutive games run of 41 in a row and 50 of the last 51 games. - Edmonton comebacks: A common theme in the last 4 Edmonton wins ... they were not leading after the 1st Quarter. They lead the CFL with 3 wins when trailing after the 1st Quarter. In fact, all 5 Edmonton wins this year have required comebacks. - Long Edmonton TD drives: The Esks have 22 TD drives this year - those drives have averaged 74.9 yards or from their own 35. They have engineered 8 TD drives of 80 yards or more. Last Week's CFL Notables: - McLeod Bethel-Thompson: Led the Argos to a 42-41 victory over Ottawa. Here are a few superlatives from that game 1) From 24 down I: The Argo comeback matched the 8th-largest in CFL history, just 3 points short of the CFL record from 27 points. 2) From 24 down II: 2nd-largest in Argos' history, one point less than their 25-point recovery of Oct 2/94 (11-36 to HAM, won 39-36). 3) Half-time deficit: They trailed by 21 at half-time and won matching the 3rd-largest in CFL history after 30:00 of play. 4) 4 TD pass debut: One of six players with 4 TD passes in their 1st career start. CFL record: An incredible 8 TDs by Joe Zuger 1962) (Ricky Ray 2002, Matt Dunigan 1984, Condredge Holloway 1975, and Ron Reeves 1983 also had 4 TD debuts) 5) 2nd Half Passing: Bethel-Thompson passed for 233 yards and 4 TDs in the 2nd half alone. 6) Q4 game-winning drive: Drove 86 yards on 11 plays in 1:44 going 5-of-7 for 60 yards with completions to four different receivers. 7) 0:01 Left: Hit Armanti Edwards with a 23-yard TD pass with just 0:01 left on the clock on 2nd-&-10. - Johnny Manziel: Saw his first action making a start without having thrown a pass previously in the CFL. His 4 INTs were two short of the all-time record by a CFL debut QB starter (Tom Maudlin Sep 7/63 for Edmonton). Montreal made a Turnover on 5 of the first 6 possessions that Manziel ran and that included interceptions on 4 of his first 15 pass attempts. Manziel was pressured on virtually every throw however and was forced out of the pocket frequently. - Jorden/Mitchell: Kamar Jorden raised the CFL season-high for receivers to 185 yards in Calgary's 7th straight win, matching their best start since a 10-0 run to begin 1993. Mitchell raised his record to 63-10-2 in his 75th career QB start; he threw for 370 yards. - Hamilton +28 after Q1: The Ti-Cats 28-0 lead matched the largest in CFL history after 15:00 of play. - Calgary +14: Stamps tied a CFL record at 7 games in a row with at least a 14-pt lead matching the 1982 Bombers and 2011 Lions. - Edmonton: Drew the largest attendance for any CFL game this year with a crowd of 35,623. - Lewis Ward: Extended his 2018 CFL-best FG made streak to 19 and within two of the all-time record for a 1st-year player (L.Congi) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tracker, blue_gold_84, johnzo and 2 others 3 2

O2L Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 Anyone else watching this game? I'm really glad we played BC when we did and don't have another reg season game against them.

SpeedFlex27 Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 I'm watching. We're always number 3 in the Power Rankings & this bad of an Eskimo team is always #2. Go figure,

Haha amazing. Definitely been an entertaining game. If Edmonton wins by a small margin that TD drop we just saw for BC will be all anyone talks about.

O2L Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 BC's secondary has looked fantastic in the second half.

SpeedFlex27 Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 Lulay & Wally arguing. Of course they shut off the mics. Frigging TSN. Why have mic'd up games???? TBURGESS, Mark F, O2L and 1 other 4

I've just been impressed by the discipline by the BC DBs on plays that look like guaranteed PIs they do a great job hitting the ball and not the receiver. How about Lulay just yelling mad at Buono, that was interesting...

Wanna-B-Fanboy Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 I would be so pissed if our opponent was getting away with that much holding when when we are winning
Eternal optimist Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 Fitting end to the game based on Riley's decisions down the stretch. Piggy 1 1

Booch Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 Reilly sure relies on just throwing it up there hoping for the best..they are not as good a team as their record shows..I think BC is a bit better and if Lulay stays healthy and they can tune up their lines a bit they aren't bad. On another note the win puts Sask in a tie for last in division and has to have them a bit worried Noeller 1

I believe they may have shut off the mics because words like "frigging" weren't being used. It was mentioned a few times that the mics were off because of the language being used.
