But, we have, and have had, other problems this year, and in past years. O'Shea seems like a good guy that players love. But, I'm just not sure what rationale you can have as a GM to retain a coach for 5 seasons who has a sub 500 record, never won a playoff game, and the team is regressing. We're getting worse overall as a team. How is the coaching staff given a free pass on that? How can you sell that to the fan base? Potential season ticket buyers? deepsixemtoboyd 1
Stickem Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 Barring a miraculous finish to the season, this club has played itself, under the guidance of Mike O', to the brink of another failed year...Just a sniff of that type of finish is enough for the average fan to feel dejected....It's taken too long to show Cup contending results already...Another bad finish will most likely seal the fate of the head coach..How long does this management think fans are going to wait for results???This is a business after all and we're far off the mark in the success dept....Bringing back Mike for another shot after missing the post season, or creeping into a crossover, just won't be on...Could we surprise everyone and make an unexpectedly good Cup run??...Maybe...but the odds of us getting to the promised land with a qb. who has plainly lost it are very small...So the writing is on the wall and I know the faithful fans of this club can read it...These last few games are going to be crunch time for this regime...Finish badly and the writing on the wall will turn to 'that's all she wrote' for this coach...The way I see it CodyT and SpeedFlex27 1 1
TBURGESS Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 Sports isn't about a good environment or players liking you or about protecting your players. It's about winning games, playoffs and championships. O'Shea became our HC in 2014. He's below .500 in wins and hasn't even won a playoff game yet. Rick Campbell and Chris Jones also became HC's in 2014. Both have won Grey Cups. Jones took an equally bad Riders team to the one the O'Shea inherited to the playoffs and won a playoff game in his 2nd year. Jason Maas and Dave Dickenson became HC's in 2016. Both have winning records and have won playoff games. Campbell, Jones, Maas and Dickenson's teams are all ahead of us in the standings this year. Not making the playoffs, or not winning a playoff game should be a firing offence this year. White Out, SpeedFlex27, blueandgoldguy and 4 others 6 1

So the tally shown above should at least have 2 less votes to keep the regime next season and two more to get rid of it.
nate007 Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 If you know the tune to Rocket Man, sing along: I packed my jersey away last night post-game, Zero hour, 12 AM, And I let out a si-iiiii-ii-igh, once again. I miss those wins so much, I miss Coach Cal One franchise out of place, In such a sma-aaaaa-all league. And I think it’s gonna be a long long time, ‘Till a touchdown brings me around again to find, That the Bombers are bringing the Cup back home, Oh no no no, I’m a hopeless fan, Hopeless fan, and it sure seems like I’m not alone. Winnipeg’s a great place to raise your kids, But sometimes it’s cold as hell. And there are no playoff wins there to give them hope, And we’re all tired of being out-coached. We just look forward to the end of the week. We are hopeless fans, hopeless fans. I was a little tipsy but I remember the first drive the team was moving the ball and picking up first downs, its 2nd and short, they decide to run the worst wildcat direct snap I've personally ever seen. Doublezero Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 It was remarkable to see O'Shea beaking angrily at players and getting in their grill several times during the Sask game. Haven't seen that before. The heat is on. Changes coming, no doubt. Too little too late though. One constant with this leadership over the past 5 years (Miller ex D + ST player, Walters ex D + ST player, O'Shea ex D/ST player) is that they have had no clue how to manage the QB position which is the most important position on any football team. Look at the CFL teams that have had success in the same period and notice the QB specialists and former QBs among them. There's your Achilles heel, right there.

Over the past couple of training camps, I have seen MOS be spirited in his direction to a player. In fact, there was a recruit at camp on the sidelines not participating due to injury texting on a cell phone. MOS took the phone, threw it maybe 40 yards and again in a spirited fashion instructed that he was to be involved even if on the sidelines. He has also blasted staff for letting fans in early for practice. He might not be a hothead, but is certainly capable of giving someone a blast. Maybe on Saturday some players needed a blast.

Goalie Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 (edited) You fire the head coach when he loses the room. He has not done that. Entire team stepped in when Gainey got in his face. Fire MOS.. Bring in another head coach but have no QB and he gets fired and repeat.. MOS is not the issue... His OC and QB is. You fire BOTH Hall and Lapo long b4 u fire the coach who hasn't lost the room. You wanna see the team really go to ****? Fire the head coach they all believe in. You fire the OC who has been fired twice b4 here.. You fire the DC... You fire MOS and we get a seasons worth of Tim Burke LDC games. SpeedFlex27 Posted September 11, 2018 Report Posted September 11, 2018 You fire a HC when he loses continually. In this case, no results after 5 seasons. Losing the room has nothing to do with it. Tracker Posted September 11, 2018 Report Posted September 11, 2018 Ironic, isn't it? Durant screwed the team over by bailing after getting his signing bonus, but if he were here, he would probably be starting now. We have Streveler but his experience is very limited. blue_gold_84 1
