CFL Game #64 Team Notes – Edmonton at Ottawa:

Edmonton Off a Bye / Win Over Calgary: The Eskimos come in off their first wire-to-wire win over Calgary in 13 years (Sep 5/05) and their bye last week. They withstood a late rally by the Stamps and 491 passing yards by Bo Levi Mitchell to win one of the highest scoring one-possession games in CFL history. Off a bye week Edmonton is 8-3 since 2011.

Most TDs in a season without a return TD: The Eskimos have scored 40 touchdowns in 2018 and ALL of them have been scored by their Offence. They are the only CFL team in 2018 without a return TD, and the ONLY team since Winnipeg in 1979 to have none i.e. with all of their TDs coming on Offence. Saskatchewan in 1956 set the record at 42 TDs without any being returns. The last Edmonton team to go without any return TDs was in 1964.

48 offensive points: The 48 points put up by Edmonton's offence last week was the most by any Edmonton team in the last 14 years. They last exceeded 48 on August 29, 2004 when they rolled up 55 points vs Ottawa (7 converted offensive TDs and 2 FGs).

42 points against and WON: The 42 points given up by Edmonton last week was the most by any Edmonton team in a game that they WON in 18 years - and the 2nd-most in club history; exceeded only in their 51-49 non-OT win over Winnipeg on Jul 21/00.

Ottawa vs Edmonton: The REDBLACKS and Eskimos have made a habit of sweeping season series. From 2014 to 2017, all four series have been sweeps, three by Edmonton including last year and one by Ottawa in 2016.

Trevor Harris 300+ games: He has recorded 7 games of 300+ passing yards to date - the Ottawa record is 10 by Henry Burris in 2015 and next at 9 from Harris himself in 2017. He is on pace to equal or surpass the record this year. For total yardage Harris' pace is for 5,333 yards which would be #2 all-time for Ottawa behind Burris' 5,693 in 2015.

 Mike Reilly 55 TD/ 5900+ yard Pace: Has accounted for 37 TDs this year, 26 passing/11 rushing. The CFL record for rushing TDs by a Quarterback is 14 by Doug Flutie (1991 BC) followed by Kerry Joseph (13, 2007) and Reilly himself at 12 last year. The combined pass/rush TD record is dominated by Flutie who has the 4 best years - 1994: 56 (48/8), 1993: 55 (44/11), 52 twice. Reilly is on pace for 55 combined TDs this year and a record 16 rushing TDs. His passing yard pace is for 5,914 yards.

Reilly TD pass streak / 18 games of 3+ TDs: He has an active 12-game streak and at least one in 38 of last 40 game. he threw 3 TD passes in his last game making it 18 times in his career with 3 or more TD passes in 90 career starts.

 Duke Williams 8 Gms at 100+: The CFL's leading receiver has 8 games of 100+ yards this year, tied with Brandon Banks for #1. Williams is on a streak of 3 in a row and on pace to have 12 which would match the CFL record set by Jamel Richardson in 2011. The Edmonton record is 10 set by Brandon Zylstra in 2017. Next is Adarius Bowman at 9 in 2016 and Brian Kelly at 8 100's in 1983.

REDBLACKS in playoff position: Ottawa's victory over Saskatchewan put them 4 wins ahead of both Montreal and Toronto and in possession of the season series over the Als. Their 7-5 mark after 12 games is 2 wins and a tie better than in 2017 (4-7-1).

Trevor Harris: Comes in with just a 1-3 mark against Edmonton as a starter but NEITHER win came with Ottawa. His W-L record is unusual in that he and Jeremiah Masoli are the only current #1 QBs to have better road records away than at home. For Ottawa, Harris is 7-8-2 .457 at home, but 11-9 .550 on the road where he led the REDBLACKS to a win over Saskatchewan last week.

Brad Sinopoli 118: Has 79 catches to lead the CFL and is on pace (118) for an Ottawa record set by Greg Ellingson at 96 in 2017. Sinopoli has at made at least 4 catches in all but one game this year.

Greg Ellingson: Was placed on the Disabled List earlier this week - if he does not play it will be just 2nd missed game in the last 65 games for his team. That will take 66 catches and 785 yards out of Ottawa's offensive tools.

William Powell: Ran for 148 yards last week, his 5th game of 100+ this year and 11th of his career. Of the 148 yards, 110 came in the 2nd half vs Saskatchewan. In his 5 games of 100+ yards Ottawa is 4-1 this year. He leads the CFL in rushing with 994 yards, needs 6 yards for his second straight 1,000-yard season, and just 33 to surpass his career high of 1,026 yards. The last Ottawa back to have consecutive 1000-yard season was Josh Ranek in 2004-05.

Jonathan Rose: Has taken the CFL lead with 5 interceptions based on making 4 in the last 4 games (2 last week).

Boateng & Bazzie: Kwaku Boateng leads the Eskimos with 5 Sacks thus far but has not had any in his last 6 games. In fact, his 5 Sacks have all come in two games including 3 on Jul 26/18 at Montreal. Alex Bazzie has picked up the slack with 3 Sacks in his last 4 games.

what did Harris see, when he threw that int at the goal?

three Edmonton guys around his receiver, basically impossible to complete a pass to that receiver.

wierd.

looks like Harris just throws it to the first receiver  he sees, even if the guy isn't open.  not  scanning the field much at all. Maybe Harris can't read a defence.

Boateng seems to be pretty good contrary to popular opinion. field goal record, all his kicks are from the red zone, no wonder he never misses

Wow, Edmonton will be really angry next week if they lose this one!

Bombers are no Redblacks. They are not as good on offence or defense so it will definitely be a game for the Esks to right the ship.

This could get ugly early next week with the Esks very motivated to lay a big licking on them.

Man, it just never ends with you...  even in an unrelated game, you find a way to sew an anti-bomber thread.

Wasn't that long ago you promised to show the real you and drop this Mike Kelly garbage... because it was a 'character'...  now its just irritating and old.

Or we could inexplicably win. Man, I bet that you're  the life of the party when you have a few drinks. Like the mattress salesman who says he has a passion for sleep & expects everyone there to share his passion. Or the life insurance salesman who ran out of family members to prospect. You must be a whole lotta fun.

If Edmonton won, they'd be 'on a roll and unstoppable'...  if they tied, their lockerroom would have vowed to destroy their next opponent

Its literally impossible that Edmonton is just an average team now that we almost beat with out backup QB...  right?

Please stop quoting him, it's the only time I see his posts.

Just stop replying to him- he is an elegant troll, nothing more.

Ottawa did us a favour tonight. Now we need the Cats to step up.

No we need Toronto to step up...

If the Riders win it improves our chances for the crossover. Yech.
