yogi Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 https://www.cfl.ca/2018/10/31/cfl-announces-2018-team-award-winners/ Some interesting names on there. Kicker for MOP in BC? Is that a first for a team that makes the playoff. No surprises for the Bombers.
yogi Posted October 31, 2018 Author Report Posted October 31, 2018 Henoc takes MOP, MODP, and MOC in Montreal and I couldn't be happier not to have him on our team. Could see Bighill being the west nominee for MOP and MODP Brandon 1
Booch Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 Can see Harris and Bryant being the west finalists as well Brandon and Piggy 1 2
MOBomberFan Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 My predictions: East: Player: Jeremiah MasoliDefensive: Henoc MuambaCanadian: Brad SinopoliOffensive Lineman: Alex MateasSpecial Teams: Lewis WardRookie: William Stanback West: Player: Mike ReillyDefensive: Adam BighillCanadian: Andrew HarrisOffensive Lineman: Derek DennisSpecial Teams: Brett LautherRookie: Jordan Williams-Lambert Winners: Player: Mike Reilly - still the best player in the league, statistically or otherwiseDefensive: Adam Bighill - pure beast mode, defensive nightmare and playmakerCanadian: Brad Sinopoli - surpassed Ben Cahoon's record for receptions in a seasonOffensive Lineman: Derek Dennis - anchors the line that leads the league in passing TDs and sacks allowedSpecial Teams: Lewis Ward - home town boy setting records while making some clutch kicksRookie: William Stanback - 6.7 yards per carry, over 700 offensive yards in 7 starts... could be good for 2000 combined yards in a competent offense TBURGESS and Jesse 1 1
Blueandgold Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 I would've given Streveler rookie of the year, but Sayless isn't bad. Fred C Dobbs 1

Jpan85 Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 Micha Johnson could win over Bighill he has 13 sacks as a dt and has been pretty domimate this year. Mark F 1
Mark F Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) I think the league MVP will be a defensive player this time. Bighill has changed the Bombers D, gone from league worst, for years, to at this point one of the top in the league. I think he's the league MVP. Tait......."Sayles ranks third on the club in defensive plays in his 15 games played, 14 of them starts, with 65 tackles, two forced fumbles, three interceptions and a fumble recovery. He also blocked a punt in a win over Edmonton in September." Edited October 31, 2018 by Mark F
Arnold_Palmer Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 I could see Masoli winning MOP. Good stats, and his team is playoff bound. Not a slight at Reilly who was still great this season but that might convince voters to turn the other way. Bighill should be the MODP. He came not only as advertised but better. Harris will also finish the season as the leading rusher so I think he should win MOC.. but Sinoploli May take it as well.

Harris for sure.
JuranBoldenRules Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 Masoli shouldn't get rewarded for stats he put up against sub-.500 teams, and playing the Argos 3 times. Threw almost half his TD passes vs the Argos. His stats against playoff teams are not good. It would be embarrassing for the league if he's MOP. Piggy 1 and Noeller 2
SpeedFlex27 Posted November 1, 2018 Report Posted November 1, 2018 Trevor Harris wins MOP nominee over William Powell. WTH??

So the candidates for each award were indentified by the FRC, I think that’s the Football Reporters and the Head Coaches. What’s the process? The HC presents names from their team and discusses its local FRC reps and the FRC decides the divisional candidates and eventual individual winners? So in your query, is it Campbell valuing Harris over Powell? Can’t seem to agree that the Local FRC would want to create much conflict with the HC in order to maintain a working relationship.
SpeedFlex27 Posted November 1, 2018 Report Posted November 1, 2018 No idea about the process but how can Harris get this nomination over Powell? It's a joke.

How about the Harris nomination costs the team less money in incentives than the Powell nomination? Just speculating, and wouldn’t be surprised if money is involved in this round of nominations. They’d guard that secret with a cone of silence that actually works.

I've never heard of a team nominating one player over the other to save money on incentives. If any team did that then that would be terrible. Powell was the better player all season. Harris stunk on more than a few occasions.

Most of them share their ballots pretty openly.
sweep the leg Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 Most open I can remember the mop race being in a long time. I can see the case for any of the West nominees, except Long, to win it.

That's a good point. Has MOP ever gone to a player on a team that missed the playoffs? I might have to go look that up...
Brandon Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 I think Bighill has a very good chance of winning it this season, his excellent play has been noticed outside of Winnipeg and with the collapse of Reilly and Mitchell I don't see them having great last impressions on the voters.
