Noeller Posted February 27, 2019 Author Report Posted February 27, 2019 According to Hodge, it's the first time in a long time that the Top 3 prospects will be attending the national combine...
Mike Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 I honestly will be shocked if Betts shows up. He's a legit NFL prospect, I'd think he'd have many better things to do than show up to this thing. Excited to see some of these guys though ... surprised Oliviera isn't attending, but he's probably one of the guys that has NFL aspirations instead, along with Fontana and Mayala. Gittens Jr, Lenius, Savard .. good group of receivers. Absolute bunch of trash for anything on defence aside from the DL though. That'll make it tough to get a good read on these receivers. I still say we look to take Kongbo at 4/5 if we possibly can. Not sure he falls that far but hopefully injury concerns drop his stock a bit. We can afford to risk one of those first rounders. Something like Kongbo and Simba would be a good haul for us. JCon, Floyd, Tracker and 2 others 4 1
JCon Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 Steinauer will be familiar with Boateng.

blue_gold_84 Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/03/04/two-months-draft-day/ Bombers' picks for 2019: fourth and fifth in the first round and then 14th, 23rd, 32nd, 41st, 50th, 59th and 68th overall. The Q&A with Walters is pretty informative, too. I like how he explains his views. Tracker, wbbfan, Mr Dee and 1 other 4
Mike Posted March 14, 2019 Report Posted March 14, 2019 Well there it is, Betts announces he’s not attending.
Floyd Posted March 14, 2019 Report Posted March 14, 2019 His stock is as high as it can get I'd say... wbbfan 1

Mr Dee Posted March 22, 2019 Report Posted March 22, 2019 The CFL revealed Thursday that Wilson Sporting Goods will implement the Wilson X-Pro Connected Football and Training System as a way to capture data on the quarterbacks participating in the Combine. The technology will utilize an undetectable sensor embedded in a Wilson CFL football to measure quarterback performance in the areas of throw quality and play timing. AND Specifically, the System Measures: Timing: snap to release, snap to target and release time Throw Quality: Spin rate and spiral efficiency Arm Strength: Throw count and velocity. https://www.cfl.ca/2019/03/21/new-wilson-x-pro-ball-brings-next-level-analytics-combine/?hootPostID=108d2cfbc7835842134c9a4f7c85d086 Sard 1

Mr Dee Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 Canadian offensive lineman Shane Richards has refused to participate in any of the testing events at the CFL combine — so the league has sent him packing. Richards’ agent, and everybody’s favourite - Johnathon Hardaway, has a history of directing clients not to participate in combine testing on short notice. Don’t know who’s Matthew Boateng’s agent, but he has been sent home from the CFL combine after electing not to run the forty-yard dash on Sunday. https://3downnation.com/2019/03/23/another-prospect-has-been-sent-home-from-the-cfl-combine-and-its-time-to-change-the-events-eligibility-rules/ 👁🗨As reported, these guys have every right not to participate, but, by doing so, they prevent 2 other players who weren’t invited, to miss a chance to impress some CFL team. And that’s not right. kelownabomberfan and Jesse 2
Mike Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 It’s not right that the league insists on having guys run drills and tests that they’ve already run, just to allow them to talk to teams. TBURGESS and SPuDS 2
JuranBoldenRules Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 Pissing contest between league and an agent that only penalizes the teams and the players. Somewhere a commissioner could step in. SPuDS 1
TBURGESS Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 They sign a contract saying they will participate in all drills before they get their plane ticket. Don't want to participate... don't sign and don't go. Simple as that. Frankly, not participating after you've said you would is a huge red flag for me. I wouldn't draft them until the 3rd round or later, and yes, I know that means I wouldn't get to draft them at all. SPuDS and Mr Dee 2
JuranBoldenRules Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 (edited) Just watched the OL/DL one on ones. Really impressed with Wilkinson Northern Colorado, Williams U of M and Desjarlais Windsor. Williams has tackle potential, but all of these guys most likely interior guys in CFL. Disappointed with Saxelid UNLV and Thomassin Laval, although both probably still go first 3 rounds. DL group is not very good. Griffiths from UBC very technically sound but not much burst out of his stance, will have no issue holding a gap. Potential to be decent rotational guy, might be the type someone would try to flip to OL because he has great feet, just not very athletic and not really stout enough to be a nose tackle, looks like a guard. Bunch of guys in this group that have DE bodies but DT athleticism. Start eating. Smith from Laurier only standout among the DE's. Lachance from U of M quick out of stance but standing up by third step, recipe to get knocked on your ass against better competition. EDIT: Forgot to say, the internationals in this group were absolutely brutal in terms of football. Their testing numbers don't stand out as being as awful as they looked in the drills. JuranBoldenRules Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 RB's and LB's. Nothing notable. Kalinic ran drills as FB type, potential to be that guy in CFL. I think Lyles can be a useful player in the CFL, but nothing he can really show in the combine environment, put up decent numbers, good mid-round value pick. LB group is really bad. Receivers/DB's: Gittens is great. Doubt he's available when the Bombers pick. Osei-Kusi, fast but beware of hands. Brutal 1 on 1's aside from one double move. Could not catch any slants or outs. Lenius-Dickey, think he'll be a decent slot if he takes on blocking role, crap route runner but big and reasonably quick. Really liked Julien-Grant SFX, big (thick more than tall) and smooth. Good hands. Quick transition from catch to run. Hunter Karl from Calgary very solid. Nothing jumps off the page, just consistent, smooth, catches the ball. Shai Ross is an insane athlete. Hands and route running questionable, quit on a few routes and gave up INTs in 1 on 1's. I'd take a chance on him becoming a great special teamer with some coaching, maybe a move to DB, late-round. Dearborn DB out of Carleton, like a more athletic Loffler. Not sure how physical he is at full contact, but man can he move, no trouble sticking with any receivers today. Liked Busby and Lee too, guys who could be corners. Jamie Harry best DB at playing the ball, showed a lot in coverage, played a lot of safety in CIS. Lots of DB's here that will play. Floyd 1
