Without fail here are the worst pre-season predictions in the league from the one and only Rod Pederson

West Division

1. Calgary Stampeders

2. B.C. Lions

3. Edmonton Eskimos

4. Saskatchewan Roughriders

5. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

East Division

1. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

2. Toronto Argonauts

3. Ottawa Redblacks

4. Montreal Alouettes

He has become less of Rider homer since he is no longer on their payroll.  I would be interested to hear his rationale for thinking the Bombers will tank this year.  The rest of the standings are reasonable.

It sounds as if desperation is beginning to take over from logic, hopefully they have some background in football or more connection to Montreal than just being born there.  Reeks of Glieberman.

Or that they are leaving no stone unturned.  They walked away from one potential problem buyer already.  No reason no to kick the tires on all prospective buyers first.

I could have sworn I heard him on the radio talking about being sober and doing motivational speaking about addicitions. Maybe being drunk wasn't his issue? (As scary as that may be).

Everyone need to realize whatever the background of the potential owners have first and foremost they need to have deep pockets.

The CFL can only deal with folks who want to buy the club. They don't get to choose them.

Quite frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to buy the Als who have been losing money, fans, and most games for years.

Mostly they just have to convince the BOG that they are willing to spend money.  In reality no matter how much money they have they'll be looking for bailouts from the league if/when losses mount, and if they don't get it they'll probably just abandon the team as has happened repeatedly in the East with Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton in the last 40 years.

The CFL has been on its deathbed too many times to count in the last 50 years and yet it always muddles through despite truly awful owners, GMs coaches and players. Maybe one of these days the league will step off the precipice but not this year.

Q? Who are they referring to when the Coaches use this statement?  “He has a unique skill set”

👁‍🗨 Is it just me who thinks the BC Lions’s helmets were all a little askew the other night against Calgary?

👁‍🗨 Eskimos kicker Sean Whyte: 'The cancer that was in the dressing room is gone'

👁‍🗨🏈 The Canadian Football League is moving up the start time of the June 13 regular -season-opening game in Hamilton between the Tiger-Cats and Saskatchewan Roughriders to 7 p.m. easter time from 7:30 p.m. (Toronto can’t do anything right it seems.)

Mike Sherman  "I don't agree with the decision, but it wasn't mine to make," he said. - (Herb Zurkowsky)

So it wasn't mutually agreed. Shocking as in sarcasm.

Perhaps it was Derel Walker... no idea what his character is like... not sure Williams was ever an option to keep around (NFL was a foregone conclusion), so if anyone was 'weeded out' perhaps it was DW.

It reads like it was either one of their top WR or Reilly. Saying that, based solely on those statements I think he was refering to Williams. To good for the team, bigger then the team...both Reilly and Walker knew their NFL time was over or close to it. Williams saw the $$$$ coming his way for sure. So wouldn't surprise me if it was him.

It's still going to overlap with the Raptors game (that's why they moved it to 7).

Too bad for the CFL. Their showcase opening game will be overtaken by Raptors. I'll watch 2 hours of football and then turn over to the start of BB game. Hopefully the Raptors can wrap it up!

NISSAN TITAN POWER RANKINGS: HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL IN WEEK 1

1. Calgary Stampeders

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

Missing roughly two-thirds of their 2018 starting defence, the Stamps face an uphill battle in their quest to repeat as Grey Cup Champions. On the other hand, most of the offence is intact, led by highly-regarded coach Dave Dickenson and two-time Most Outstanding Player Bo Levi Mitchell, who’s back on a four-year deal. You just can’t count this team out.

2. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

As the drought approaches three decades, 2019 may be the Bombers’ best chance yet to win a Grey Cup. They were close last year, falling to Calgary in the Western Final, and this off-season GM Kyle Walters has re-stocked the shelves, adding Willie Jefferson to the defensive line and Chris Matthews to the receiving corps. On paper this could be the CFL’s deepest, most talented roster.

britishcolumbia.png

3. BC Lions

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

If the Lions are flying under the radar in the hotly-contested West, don’t expect that to last. First-time head coach DeVone Caybrooks has assembled quite the cast of characters in BC, with Mike Reilly, Bryan Burnham and Duron Carter leading what’s expected to be a highly-explosive offence. In the end, though, it’s the other side of the ball that will determine just how far the Lions can go.

HamiltonPNG.png

4. Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

Will the Ticats miss June Jones? That’s the question in Steeltown, where a talented roster has new leadership on both sides of the ball in coaches Orlondo Steinauer, Tommy Condell and Mark Washington. If a league-leading offence led by Jeremiah Masoli can pick up where it left off, the Ticats are heavily favoured to win the East and contend for a long-awaited Grey Cup.

eDMONTONpng.png

5. Edmonton Eskimos

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

Despite missing the playoffs AND losing franchise quarterback Mike Reilly, the Eskimos are trending up after a busy off-season. Brock Sunderland transformed the team’s core over the winter, signing Trevor Harris, Greg Ellingson and DaVaris Daniels to lead the offence along with a trio of new linebackers on defence. The Eskimos may just be the dark horse of the CFL West Division.

saskatchewan.png

6. Saskatchewan Roughriders

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

Led by the projected No. 1 defence and a star running back in William Powell, the ingredients for success are in place in Riderville — but there are questions. Zach Collaros wasn’t the team’s first choice at quarterback after a forgettable first season in green and white, while the departure of Chris Jones affects multiple layers of the organization. There is no bigger wildcard in the CFL than Saskatchewan in 2019.

TorontoPNG.png

7. Toronto Argonauts

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

Coming off a last-place finish, cautious optimism surrounds the Argos heading into the new campaign. Star off-season addition Derel Walker looks to be in top form coming off season-ending injury, while Jacques Chapdelaine’s offence has clicked all pre-season, leading the team to a 2-0 record. If Corey Chamblin’s defence returns to its 2017 form, the Boatmen could challenge for the East Division crown.

ottawa_englishPNG.png

8. Ottawa REDBLACKS

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

It’s been a tough few months in the nation’s capital, with little remaining of the core that won East Division titles in three of the last four years. The list of off-season losses for the REDBLACKS is too long for this space, but General Manager Marcel Desjardins has proven adept at scouting and developing new talent. If this team can contend in 2019, it will silence more than a few critics in the process.

als-logo-reduced-png-800x800.png

9. Montreal Alouettes

Record: 0-0
Last Week: —

As surprising as it was to see Mike Sherman dismissed days before the season, the tone around the Alouettes appears to be positive. Young Antonio Pipkin has been named the team’s starting quarterback, while Khari Jones has worked hard for his first opportunity as a head coach. Perhaps laying low isn’t a bad thing for a team looking to finally break out and get back in the post-season.

I disagree about the Riders. Unless Collaros' middle name is Lazarus, I think they will be scraping bottom all season with a couple of surprise victories that the Rider faithful will have to console themselves with. They will be scraping off the excrement that Chis Jones left for a couple of years yet.

Who made this list, Doug Brown?
