Noeller Posted November 20, 2019 Report Posted November 20, 2019 Wow. That guy's gonna go someplace without crazy people and win a cup within 5 years...

I'm hoping for the opposite effect that will cause this headline in about a month: 'Leafs a mystery, nothing working.' I have an unhealthy relationship with the Leafs, I know. But good news is, I can go back to liking Mike Babcock. JCon 1

Brandon Posted November 26, 2019 Report Posted November 26, 2019 That being said I've heard from my cousin who was friends with some players who used to play under Babcock , he apparently was a complete a-hole and truly was not liked at all by the players. Real hard ass.
HardCoreBlue Posted November 26, 2019 Report Posted November 26, 2019 Interesting last couple of days in hockey with what is coming out (allegedly) about Babcock and Peters. Get's me thinking, where is people's line of what should stay in the locker room versus nope, unacceptable, needs to be reported. In these two cases one is accused racist behaviour and the other is accused bad motivational tactics.
Goalie Posted November 26, 2019 Report Posted November 26, 2019 The Babcock one was atleast recent. This Peters thing is from 10 years ago.
The Unknown Poster Posted November 26, 2019 Report Posted November 26, 2019 Racism is racism whether it was ten years ago or not. I think it shows you where that line is though. It was kept quiet all this time. Now it’s out. And supported by other players there at the time. Peter’s is finished. Noeller 1
Brandon Posted November 27, 2019 Report Posted November 27, 2019 I don't get why Peters gets fired for saying words yet other coaches are praised for sending enforcers to purposely injure other teams players. What a weird world this is. I think Calgary just wanted an excuse to fire the guy. Floyd, Goalie and MrFreakzilla 3
Floyd Posted November 27, 2019 Report Posted November 27, 2019 Start picking the carcass of the flames... Hamonic would be a nice addition to the Jets The Unknown Poster 1

As @Noeller said if you don't understand how wrong this is, you are a part of the problem. What also needs to be addressed is how and why so many would have kept this quiet for so long. So you're saying words hurt more then trying to hit a guy from behind into the boards or to throw down and give a guy a concussion? In my opinion any coach that sends someone out to purposely injure someone else either in retaliation because of a clean hit or because they are mad should be instantly banned from the league.
GCJenks Posted November 29, 2019 Report Posted November 29, 2019 Not to keep bringing this up but I thought Hextall on Hockey had a pretty good take on why what Bill Peters did was so egregious how it extends beyond situational racism to a culture of bullying and degradation. https://omny.fm/shows/680-cjob/hextall-on-hockey-bill-peters The Unknown Poster, JCon, Noeller and 1 other 4

SpeedFlex27 Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 Why didn't Carolina fire him after racial slur & the 2 assaults on his players? I find it strange that this wasn't vetted in its entirety. Were the Hurricanes management aware of Peter's racial slur? And if they were why wasn't he fired at that time? Then the 2 assults? How in the name of all that is sane was he allowed to get away with any of that? Amazing that was never mentioned in the hiring process. Or maybe it was but Treliving ignored it. I mean, he didn't interview anyone else. He wanted Peters & that was it.
Brandon Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 It was reported that Carolina knew and handled the situation on their own.
