i'd go deep over and over throughout the game...stray away from Lapo's MO of doing something that works then abandoning it...

So no deep hand offs to Demski and a weird formation deep end around in the red zone ?

nope...and when at the 10 or closer..ground and pound staright ahead...no fancy crap...get in..get out...repeat when necessary

Second year but yeah.

Teams Dont need to respect him the same way. He offers a lot more running and better deep throws. I'd rather scheme for a Nichols then a steveler.

Thats the truth it won't be the same.

Not sure I'd agree with that... based on the extremely small sample size of the BC game... Nichols had 3 deep balls on the money.... Streveler had one that was well under thrown...

Those werent on the money though, 2 were deep balls thrown behind wrs making them have to one stop and the other slow and try to catch against their momentum. It is as you said though, a tiny sample size. On a sample size 2 to 3 times larger darvin adams is the best passer on our team.

You can go back to the post season games and previous seasons and see more of the same from nichols. Guys stopping coming back to make catches on what would be easy TDs if hit in stride.

Don't disagree... the point I'm making is more that we haven't seen anything from Streveler to indicate that he will have a good deep ball... I sure hope he does... we just don't know yet...

anything over thunk is just plain poor coaching...You have Harris..Strev...Lucky perhaps in motion in the backfield...try and pick your poison

With our O-line bulldozing the opposing D-line and linebackers pretty much every game and with Eli as a TE, there should be no stopping them and that opens up the defensive secondary.

What would you line up against that?  Fill the gaps and force Strevelor to beat you with his arm.  He is going to have to get the ball downfield.  Not hard because it will be man, but he still has to go through his reads and make it happen.  I hope he can do it.

It will be exciting though.

It is nice reading and hearing on the street how excited fans are for the next game.

Excited can mean stressed and fearful, just as a dog wagging his tail does not mean he is happy.

No..., the people I have heard are genuinely excited to see how Big Chris is going to do... they say how much they have enjoyed watching him play all ready.

I'd use a lot of motion and misdirection and take the ball to the outside instead of trying to bang it up the middle...  after all Streveler is a 4.5 - 40 guy... oh, and he'd truck ya if you give him the chance, lol...

He's also our only experienced QB. I don't see Lapo taking those kind of liberties.

oh I know, but I think it would be a lot more effective... I wouldn't hate seeing Streveler in the pistol or gun and do that quick throw out to Lucky either with Woli providing escort...

Yup..we need to motion and spread the defense..get guys moving pre snap to see who is spying Strev..and where there coverages are.

Need to have guys clearing out between the hashes...utilize Harris as the outlet without 7 guys in the box..and if we do a lot of Qb draws and keepers theres more room

Also they have to show right out of the gate that we are going deep...I'd prefer a 2 and out with 2 deeper shots right out of the gate..preferably from 2 different launch points than a conservative predictable 4 or 5 play drive and a punt

For me at work all I am hearing is about Laine possibly being traded  and how the NFL game is going to be a bust because of the ticket prices  =\

I haven't had a job in over 6 years myself... love. it.  but it was a beautiful day today here in Missouri so I took the opportunity to get my baby out and run some errands and tryto wear out the rear tires... not to difficult when you have over 700 hp under the hood... just sayin'...
