In all-out war, even if nuclear weapons were not used, conventional "bunker buster" bombs would mean that Kin Jong-Il would die alongside his whole family and retinue. If the strike did not kill him, he would be buried so deep that all in the bunker would never see daylight again.
Tracker Posted November 8, 2022 Report Posted November 8, 2022 Russian Enemies of Kremlin Meet to Plot Violent ‘Elimination’ of Putin The anti-Kremlin group, which includes several former Russian politicians, met in Poland and discussed staging a civil war, taking up arms, and killing Vladimir Putin. Anti-Russia activists and former Russian lawmakers opposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin have been gathering in Poland in recent days to discuss what removing Putin from power would look like nearly nine months into his war in Ukraine. Some of the scenarios the anti-Russia group discussed include Russians staging a civil war, taking up arms, and killing Putin, according to Euractiv. A guerrilla fight may be the only way to take down Putin, said opposition activist Viacheslav Maltsev. “The main goal is to physically eliminate Putin,” Maltsev said. “The fight against terrorists requires terrorists’ methods,” one politician present said, according to Gazeta Wyborcza. Ilya Ponomarev, a former member of the State Duma and the only Russian lawmaker to vote against annexing Crimea in 2014, arranged the gathering, and has said he is organizing an underground resistance movement in recent months. Some have expressed doubts about whether he actually leads a coalition of rebels, while others have questioned if he has become too radical and violent, as The Daily Beast reported. Allies of opposition leader Alexey Navalny did not participate in the gathering, according to Euractiv. Regardless of Ponomarev’s claims and tactics, though, the gathering in Poland this weekend is just the latest signal that those opposed to Putin are growing more vocal by the day. The chatter of a Putin ouster comes as he struggles to make gains in his war in Ukraine, with dissent for his war growing in Russia. Ukrainian forces have been gaining momentum since they began mounting counteroffensives against Russian forces in the south and northeast of Ukraine, forcing Russians to retreat. And in a push to replace those lost on the battlefield, Putin announced a “partial mobilization” for eligible Russian men—but instead of responding with support, hundreds of thousands of Russians responded with a massive exodus from the nation to flee conscription. Russian officials in St. Petersburg and Moscow have also called for Putin’s ouster in recent months. Elite circles in Russia are also starting to rally behind the idea that Putin needs to leave power, according to a close former aide of Putin’s, his speechwriter, Abbas Gallyamov. https://www.thedailybeast.com/russian-enemies-of-kremlin-meet-in-poland-to-plot-violent-elimination-of-vladimir-putin?ref=home
Tracker Posted November 10, 2022 Report Posted November 10, 2022 American military reports that, in their estimate, Russia has lost close to 100,000 troops in their attack on Ukraine and more than half their armoured vehicles and artillery. Winter is coming and all the winter gear for the ground forces that were ordered and paid for by the Russian government are nowhere to be found. This on top of no or outdated (WW2) weapons, scarcity of both food and water at the front lines and behind every front line, there are secondary emplacements whose job it is to shoot any retreating troops. Over the past month, the survival time for new troops has shrunk from 9 days to 3 days. Many Russian troops surrender with their armoured vehicles as soon as they get to the front lines, and are surprised by the humane treatment they receive. They also report that many have not eaten in days, and their officers fled as soon as the firefights or bombardments started.

blue_gold_84 Posted November 14, 2022 Report Posted November 14, 2022 (edited) https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/russia-ukraine-war-1.6650562 Quote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday visited the newly liberated southern city of Kherson, where he posed with Ukrainian troops in a central square. Zelenskyy has previously appeared unexpectedly in other front-line zones at crucial junctures of the war, to support troops and congratulate them for battlefield exploits. Video footage showed Zelenskyy waving to residents who waved at him from an apartment window and yelled "Glory to Ukraine!" The reply "Glory to the heroes!" came back from Zelenskyy's group, made up of soldiers and others. "This is the beginning of the end of the war," he said. "We are step by step coming to all the temporarily occupied territories." The liberation of Kherson after a grinding offensive that forced Russia to pull back its forces from the city was one of Ukraine's biggest success so far of the nearly nine-month invasion and a stinging blow for the Kremlin. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Monday refused to comment on Zelenskyy's visit to Kherson, saying only that "you know that it is the territory of the Russian Federation." After the Russian retreat, Ukrainian authorities say they are finding evidence of torture and other atrocities. In his nightly video address on Sunday, Zelenskyy said without details that "investigators have already documented more than 400 Russian war crimes, and the bodies of both civilians and military personnel have been found." "In the Kherson region, the Russian army left behind the same atrocities as in other regions of our country," he said. "We will find and bring to justice every murderer. Without a doubt." **** Russia. Edited November 14, 2022 by blue_gold_84 Mark F, JCon and WildPath 3
blue_gold_84 Posted November 14, 2022 Report Posted November 14, 2022 https://apnews.com/article/biden-taiwan-indonesia-xi-jinping-government-and-politics-961bb4680962cc53b4375af3bcbc4927 Quote NUSA DUA, Indonesia (AP) — President Joe Biden objected to China’s “coercive and increasingly aggressive actions” toward Taiwan during his first in-person meeting on Monday with President Xi Jinping, as the leaders of the two superpowers aimed to “manage” differences between their nations as they compete for global influence. The highlight of Biden’s seven-day, round-the-world trip to Asia, the nearly three hour sit-down came at a critical juncture for the two countries amid increasing economic and security tensions. Speaking at a news conference afterward, Biden said that when it comes to China the U.S. would “compete vigorously, but I’m not looking for conflict.” He added: “I absolutely believe there need not be a new Cold War” with the rising Asian power. Biden reiterated U.S. support for its longstanding “One China” policy, which recognizes the government in Beijing while allowing for informal relations and defense ties with Taipei, and its posture of “strategic ambiguity” over whether it would respond militarily if the island were attacked. He also said that despite China’s recent saber rattling, he does not believe “there’s any imminent attempt on the part of China to invade Taiwan.” Xi, according to the Chinese government’s account of the meeting, “stressed that the Taiwan question is at the very core of China’s core interests, the bedrock of the political foundation of China-U.S. relations, and the first red line that must not be crossed in China-U.S. relations.” Biden said he and Xi discussed Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and “reaffirmed our shared belief” that the threat or the use of nuclear weapons is “totally unacceptable.” That was a reference to Moscow’s thinly-veiled threats to use atomic weapons as its nearly nine-month invasion of Ukraine has faltered.

Tracker Posted November 15, 2022 Report Posted November 15, 2022 As has been widely reported, as the Russian army retreated, several unmarked mass graves have been found containing Ukrainian soldiers as well as civilians, women and children. many with their hands bound behind them and shot execution-style. Several of the men had been castrated. More such discoveries are expected. In one event, a Wagner Group mercenary was captured by the Ukrainians, and traded back to the Russians only to be killed with a hammer to the head while the incident was livestreamed. Today, the UN General Assembly voted to hold the Russians wholly responsible for the war and attacks directed at civilians and civilian infrastructure. As a consequence, Russia is now responsible for all such damages and Ukraine can pursue the seizure of Russian assets of all kinds everywhere in the world as war reparations. WildPath and Mark F 1 1
blue_gold_84 Posted November 15, 2022 Report Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/russia-missiles-poland-nato-1.6652345 Quote A senior U.S. intelligence official says Russian missiles crossed into NATO member Poland, killing two people. Polish government spokesperson Piotr Mueller did not immediately confirm the information, but said top leaders were holding an emergency meeting due to a "crisis situation." Polish media reported that two people died Tuesday afternoon after a projectile struck an area where grain was drying in Przewodow, a Polish village near the border with Ukraine. Russia rained missiles on cities across Ukraine on Tuesday in what Ukraine said was the heaviest wave of missile strikes in nearly nine months of war, echoing a pattern in recent weeks of Moscow lashing out far from the front after battlefield losses. I said it yesterday and I'll say it again today: **** Russia. Buncha slimy terrorist jerkoffs. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/russia-ukraine-war-1.6651841 Quote Russia launched its biggest barrage yet at cities across Ukraine on Tuesday, even as Western leaders condemned Moscow at the G20, and abandoned towns in southern Ukraine hinted that Russian lines might be collapsing even farther. Ukraine said more than 100 missiles were fired in attacks that struck residential buildings in the capital Kyiv and, elsewhere, attacks on energy facilities that knocked out power. Even neighbouring Moldova suffered power outages after the strikes hit a supply line. Edited November 15, 2022 by blue_gold_84 content added
