It's true. The CFL is at all all time low for quality of team. The Riders in the 90s would likely be a 500 team at best, but right now there's so much garbage in our league they managed to put together a 10 win season so far. It speaks to how bad the quality of the league is that a pretty mediocre team like the Riders are 10-4.

On offense our o-line as of late has sucked (coincidence that the decline started when they made changes on the original group which was having great success) , our RB is still awesome. We have good enough receivers, some guys need to sit (Whitehead / Demski). The QB'ing of course is the only question mark and of course the coaching. If we played fantasy trades and somehow Reilly was on our team with a O-Coordinator that isn't so passive.... I think it would make a world of difference.

Our defense collapsed to lose against Toronto, Sask, and Montreal. It got destroyed against Hamilton. It is not good enough. Not personnel, not coaches. 2. Oline has not been good. AH failed a drug test. Our receivers don't fight for balls and have too many drops. The QB'ing is inexperienced. Lapo's playcalling is predictable and easily defended against. As fans we love our Bombers but we get carried away with a little success and think we are better than we really are. Then we are crushed when they fall back to earth. We are an average team and our record will reflect that in the end. What some folks around here can't seem to accept is that if Walters and O'Shea were as good as those people think they are, after six years we should be much better than just an average team. We aren't. We need great players and great coaches that know how to get the most out of those players. We need superior game planning and swift, effective in-game adjustments. We need player development strategies that produce future stars and we need accountability from players and coaches alike. There is no doubt our players and coaches want to win and win badly. The problem is so does everyone else and some of those people do a better job at building winning football teams than we do. Until we, as an organization, find a way to get the best of those people working for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers we are going to continue to see results like one playoff win in six years. Is it the coaching or personnel? Both? Either way, as an organization it's tough to sell six years of average to the fan base. You can kind of do it in the NFL with 32 teams - tell the fans hey, 8-8 is pretty good considering. In the 9 team CFL , long term average kind of sucks. Some changes need to happen, and will happen. May or may not involve O'Shea leaving. Tracker 1

Every measurable in football says you are wrong. For example, did you know the Riders have given up the least amount of turnovers? Thats amazing with a QB who's in his first season as a starter. To say a team that has won 9 o f their last 10 games as not good is just silly talk. Edited October 11, 2019 by Brock Streveler

Oh yeah fear the Riders playing a pile of back up qbs all the time. So scary. They got Montreal with Pipkin in the game and got a BS win with only playing 3 quarters, not only did they get Hamilton with Evans starting his first game, they were also missing Banks in that one too which is a massive part of their offense. No games against Edmonton early and now might get to face them with Logan Killgore in... yeah everything is falling into place for them this season, but don't expect things to stay rosey, especially the turnovers thing. Teams will start to take away the quick slants and Fajardo's noodle arm won't be able to throw into tight spaces when that happens and his deep ball is a complete floater.

Noeller Posted October 11, 2019 Report Posted October 11, 2019 Buck won't work for Dinwiddie (as he shouldn't) and I dint like the idea of tossing a guy who's shown years of loyalty to the organization, and could also be a very good OC in his own right.

I think they'll pay him every penny that they possibly can. Montreal's owned by the league and are losing millions this year....giving away 2-6,000 free tickets per game . They are not any further along in finding ownership for the team in Montreal....probably because the Wettenhalls left them with a massive accumulated deficit (who pays for that? League or new owners?)...and also because the team is likely to lose $7 million in 2020 under new ownership. Hardly an attractive investment. If the league's owners are willing to foot the bill in 2020 as the team struggles to find new ownership you can be sure they will be scrutinizing every penny spent. Bombers, being the second largest revenue team in the league can easily outbid them...and yes, I know there is a cap on coaching and management. The Als may very well not exist in 2020 if no owner is found and the BOG decides to no longer fund the franchise. Edited October 11, 2019 by blueandgoldguy

Every team has positives and negatives. If there are lots of positives I believe your chances of winning improve. But the opposite is also likely to be true. We have been losing of late because despite the positives, there are too many negatives. You ignore the negatives at your own peril and I believe good teams focus on getting rid of the negatives. That is why they try to avoid turnovers, minimize penalties, eliminate errors, etc. That is not being negative or emotional. It's pragmatic. What happens if, after a while, despite the best of intentions, the balance of positives to negatives remains askew? Loyalty to players and coaches that aren't good enough isn't going to change our fortunes. Getting the right players and coaches in here might. We've had almost 6 years of this regime and 1 playoff win to show for it. Do you think that's a good balance of positive and negative? Once you have determined you need better coaches and players you have to change them out. How else are you going to do it? That's how other teams do it. Tracker and DR. CFL 1 1
