Cost of Doing Business in China

NBA Rockets GM Daryl Morey supports protests in Hong Kong on twitter.  His tweet is soon deleted and the NBA and Rockets are suddenly offering all sorts of apologies and trying to distance themselves from the tweet as China sponsors pull out and preseason games are banned in China.  The Rockets had previously been a huge money maker in China due to Chinese basketball star Yao Ming in the early 2000's.

South Park is banned in China after they make fun of hollywood for cow towing to China demands.  South Park tells China to **** off and makes fun of them again in a new episode.

By the way, the last part of that tweet is in reference to Winnie the Pooh being banned in China because bloggers have been comparing the plump bear to China's President Xi Jinping.

Blizzard / World of Warcraft bans a player for a year and takes back a cash prize they had awarded him after he supports the Hong Kong protests in an interview.  China is a large revenue stream for the company.

For a long time, China has controlled what foreign companies can and can't do (censorship) within their borders and those companies agreed to get access to the large market.  Now that those companies have a huge financial stake with a foothold in China, they are exercising their influence to control what these companies do outside of the Chinese borders.   What's next?  Is the cost of doing business in China really worth it?  And why is a cartoon the only one willing to stand up to them......
