Harris is now the Canadian All Time Leader in Rushing Yards

Andrew Harris passed Normie Kwong last night to become the All Time Canadian leader in CFL rushing yards. A big kudos to Andrew!

Apparently it's a "sort of".... Kwong has two years of ball that are not included in the stats, but they figure with one more good year, Harris will have passed that as well...

Things were a lot different back then. And honestly, sports personnel weren't held up so much as the idols they are today. (No, I don't speak from personal experience).

Lots of great players are overlooked or forgotten because of it which is unfortunate. Younger fans, even older ones like me who never saw guys play as it was before our time just don't care because leagues didn't care back then. We have no idea who these guys are. It is what it is., I guess.

Chris Cuthbert mentioned on the broadcast that it is estimated he ran about 600 yards in those undocumented seasons... assuming Harris doesn't take too big of a step back in his age 33 season... He'll get that next year... the bigger question is when does Harris get to 10,000 rushing yards??

I have points and games played for Normie Kwong (1948 & 1949) but no other individual numbers for the season.

The Winnipeg Tribune mentioned that Kwong & Harry Hood accumulated about 150 yards (divided equally) in the September 12 game. The Trib had a more detailed account for the September 17 game - Kwong had runs of 71, 16, 12, 8, 6 & 0 yards.

Kwong played all 12 games in 1948 but was only listed as a starter once. In 1949, he played all 14 games and was listed as a starter 9 times. In this era, if you subbed out of the game you could not return until the following quarter. As a result, starters usually played big minutes. 600 yards seems like a reasonable estimate.

Right after getting past 9,999 and before he gets to 10,001.

The record for rushing yards in a single season was set by Mike Pringle of th Montreal Alouettes in 1988 (2,065 yards)
The record by a Canadian running back was set by Jon Cornish of the Calgary Stampeders in 2013 (1,813 yards)

CFL has changed since even fivish years ago - we are by far the most run-heavy offense in recent years, the league is much more pass-happy. To-date for 2019, we still only have 2,663 yards collectively as a team (Harris has 1,380 of those yards), both numbers which lead the league by a wide margin. MTL is 2nd in rushing (2,108 yards), Powell is the next back after Harris (1,057 yards) and he's played one more game than Harris due to the suspensions for Harris.

You probably meant 1998, Pringle wasn't in the CFL in 88. He was playing college football in 88.

I think if Harris had played in all 18 games this year he might have broken Cornish's record for a Canadian in one year
