sweep the leg Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 Is it just me, or are there way more ads on the site now? I'm getting them popping up in the middle of threads now, and they're much bigger at the top and bottom of the screen. It's only this site that it's happening to me. NorthernSkunk Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I noticed the ads between posts.....it is not good.
O2L Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I know everyone’s gotta eat, but this isn’t good. I’d much sooner donate a little bit if there was an option for that. This just compels next to use an ad blocker or stop visiting the site.
Brandon Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I always assumed everyone runs an ad blocker no? BaconNBigBlue, TBURGESS, GCJenks and 3 others 6

Rich Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I’ll take a look into it tonight I haven’t changed any of the ad settings in a long time. I hate ads that are injected into threads or take away from the site. Seems like Google decided to get aggressive. GCJenks, SpeedFlex27, Blue_Dragoon and 4 others 7
MOBomberFan Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I notice the ads on Firefox mobile (they take up the entire screen), but at home on my PC I have no ads with Firefox / AdBlockPlus
Rich Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 Have looked into this a bit ... Google has implemented a new feature called auto ads, where it basically uses AI/ML to try and better serve ads and placement. I had turned it on a while back, but with restrictions. I found this email from yesterday: Quote A few weeks ago we introduced you to a new, more customizable and powerful Auto ads. We tried to match your previous settings as closely as possible, and sent you a notification on your AdSense homepage about the settings you needed to review. Because you didn't make any changes to your settings, we applied our default settings for you. As someone who works in software, this is something that really pisses me off. You never unilaterally make changes to how a customers account works. Most people never read those emails, and I almost never log into the account to see notifications. These have been turned off. Let me know if you are still seeing them. J5V, Arnold_Palmer, kelownabomberfan and 14 others 15 2

17to85 Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I am hesitant to complain about ads on a site I like unless they're very very intrusive. I noticed the change on my phone and I was like "eh that's annoying but whatever" JCon, The Classic, CodyT and 2 others 5
Noeller Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 I'd second that...we don't pay anything to use this, so as long as Rich is getting what's coming to him, and it's not making my use of the site super difficult, I'm okay with whatever... Tracker, J5V, The Classic and 1 other 3 1
17to85 Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 but if you ever put auto playing video ads that pop up and block my screen then I will raise no amount of hell. J5V and The Classic 1 1
Fraser Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 Unrelated to this site but I hate websites that ask to send notifications, I wish there was a way to block every site from sending you a notification. The Classic and J5V 1 1
Rich Posted October 29, 2019 Report Posted October 29, 2019 Don’t run the site to make money. I’m happy to break even. The ads do pay for hosting, software costs, prizes for Pick ‘Ems and Lock of the Week, and we’ve donated a pair of season tickets to allow those less fortunate to see Bomber games every year running the site. So if they are detracting from the enjoyment of the site, I’m generally against them. bigg jay, J5V, blue_gold_84 and 12 others 10 5

O2L Posted October 31, 2019 Report Posted October 31, 2019 Thanks Rich! Appreciate the site and if you ever decide to open it to donations I’ll be the first to pony up some cash! J5V and Tracker 2
