I'd say with Nichols release & the money that went with it that the Bombers now have a lot of flexibility regarding the salary cap when it comes to CFL free agents.

Collaros took all of that and more.

Risky venture for Lapo....Arbuckle is hardly proven and was marginally succesfull in a system he has been in for 2 years...with a decent team upfront of him...now he goes to a new system...a lot of pressure, and a weaker supporting cast

The East looks less easy than the previous few years as well.

Can't help but notice the flurry of signings yesterday and today. Seems to me the new FA window has spurred on this activity. CFL FA Frenzy on TSN is going to be a bust!

Well Lapo gets his guy. Curious what the $ is.

Didn't notice it here but Toronto got Lokombo from Montreal for an 8th rounder.

He got basically the only guy other than Nichols available.

That is for sure.

Has to sting a little for Matty.

At least Arbuckle is healthy and is coming from a good system.  So if I'm an Ottawa fan at least I have some positive things to look forward for.

Nichols I guess goes to Toronto.... do they platoon him with MBT?

My thought since LaPo signed in Ottawa was, we'll see if he really wants Nichols as his guy, and we'll find out if he becomes a free agent.  I imagine they talked to Nichols agent, and elected to go with the young buck with upside.  Not surprised.   Nichols has zero leverage now in negotiations with Toronto.  Either sign what they offer, or go play the field for a backup contract.   If the Argos make an offer, it will be performance based bonuses.  Doing anything but would be foolish for them business wise!

Or a starter goes down on the 2nd play of the season and he cashes in (if ready to go).

For sure. I'm not convinced Toronto signs him. That leaves him with #2 money or wait for an opportunity.

This will be interesting to see.

Matty has no other option to get a starting money/job other than Toronto.

and there's no available decent starting QB for Toronto, than Matty.

Who's the first to blink will win the negotiation.

Got your blue goggles on... Arbuckle had better numbers than Reilly and Ottawa actually has a pretty nice OL - ignite last year with no RB or QB ha

this is a very nice move - for sure he’s at 430-450
