blue_gold_84 Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/longform/the-golden-goal-an-oral-history I'll never forget where I was watching this game and going absolutely bonkers when Crosby potted this goal on a beautiful feed from Iginla. I can't believe it's been a decade.
JCon Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 Time flies. Right before my oldest was born. What a game, what a goal. Crosby is one of the best players this country has ever produced and he delivered on the biggest stage, in the toughest environment for pressure.
Noeller Posted February 28, 2020 Report Posted February 28, 2020 I'm not a Crosby fan at all, but I remember reading a sort of "oral history" thing about that game, and Ryan Miller (USA tender) talking about what messed him up for that goal. He said most guys will look up after taking the pass and pick their spot, but Crosby never looked up. He took the pass and knew exactly where was going with it without needing to look at the target. Said there's less than a handful of people in the world who could have done that. What I remember most about that game, aside from the incredible party we had, was Toews scoring the opening goal of the game. So much hustle from him in that entire Olys...he had a MASSIVE 2010 year, that guy. JCon 1
Noeller Posted February 29, 2020 Report Posted February 29, 2020 This isn't the one I referenced, but it is *A* interesting oral history, anyhow... https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/greatest-games-the-golden-goal-no-5-international-game
