SpeedFlex27 Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) Yeah, turns out it's not so much of an old fogey disease, after all. But hey, when you reached 45 you've had a long life. Be happy for that long life. A 25 year old deserves to live his/her life still. Your life is over. Edited March 24, 2021 by SpeedFlex27

As the age limit gets lowered each year represents many more people than the group before. The number of people 65 is many more than 70, 63 and 64 will be even more. Even with a steady supply of vaccine these changes will be less frequent. Secondly out vaccine supply is not consistent, not even remotely so. EU, USA and India all have or working on ways to bolster domestic supply by curbing exports. I hope it doesn’t come to it but I won’t be surprised if we don’t see a resumption of steady supply until May/June once the EU is much farther along in its program and we start to get their extras.

Scary- it could happen here, too if we are not vigilant and respect the restrictions. I doubt this has much to do with people living in Regina. Agreed nobody to blame but ourselves. But we had the time, knowledge and money to be doing our own vacine. It's a major screw up that is costing lives.

If you are referencing the Calgary facility, it is privately owned and will not be able to produce vaccines until this summer at the earliest, and then there is the approval process, which could take weeks. blue_gold_84 Posted March 25, 2021 Report Posted March 25, 2021 https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/auditor-general-pandemic-covid-phac-1.5963895 Quote Despite nearly two decades of warnings, planning and government spending, the Public Health Agency of Canada was not ready for the global pandemic and did not appreciate the threat it posed in its early stages, Canada's auditor general says. In a hard-hitting review released today, Auditor General Karen Hogan took the country's primary pandemic response agency to task for failures in early warning, surveillance, risk assessments, data-sharing with the provinces and follow-up on Canadian travelers who were ordered into quarantine. "The agency was not adequately prepared to respond to the pandemic, and it underestimated the potential impact of the virus at the onset of the pandemic," said the AG's review — one of three that looked at the Liberal government's management of the COVID-19 crisis, which as of Thursday had killed 22,780 Canadians and brought the country's economy to its knees. The auditor also reviewed federal COVID emergency benefit programs such as the Canada emergency response benefit (CERB) and the Canada emergency wage subsidy (CEWS) to determine whether the benefits reached people in need and whether the government imposed enough controls to limit abuse. Her most critical comments, however, were reserved for the topic of pandemic preparedness. Hogan said PHAC, which was established to ensure the country was ready for a major outbreak, "was not as well prepared as it could have been" because major contingency plans and issues related to surveillance had not been resolved or dealt with — even though some of them had been pointed out by previous auditors. "I am discouraged that the Public Health Agency of Canada did not address long-standing issues, some of which were raised repeatedly for more than two decades," Hogan said. "These issues negatively affected the sharing of health surveillance data between the Agency and the provinces and territories." TLDR; Canada got caught with its pants down due to a lack of preparedness regarding a global health crisis. Tracker 1

the watcher Posted March 26, 2021 Report Posted March 26, 2021 The UK started building facilities last April after the pandemic arrived. They developed and produced their own vacine since then. They have now vaccinated about %46 of their population. And this was done in a toxic political environment. Our Federal government should be ashamed of itself. They attempted a poorly arranged joint deal with a Chinese government that has few ethics and was already angry at us. What a surprise it fell through. They then sat on their thumbs for months. Kudos to our provincial government for putting money into a Alberta/ Manitoba made vacine even though it won't be available till maybe October. Those guys were beating on the Feds door for a long time and couldn't get action. WildPath and JCon 2
