JCon Posted August 26, 2021 Author Report Posted August 26, 2021 12 minutes ago, Tracker said: Sturgis was a major 'superspeader' event — just as warnings predicted: report Two years in a row, medical experts warned South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem that the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally could become a superspreader event if COVID-19 precautions and social distancing measures weren't taken. The far-right Republican governor ignored the warnings during both Sturgis 2020 and Sturgis 2021, and the highly infectious COVID-19 Delta variant has been going from bad to worse in South Dakota following this year's event. In an article published by the Daily Beast on August 26, reporters Jasleen Arneja and Maia Majumder note how dire the situation is in Meade County — where the Sturgis Motor Cycle Rally takes place. The journalists explain, "In western South Dakota's Meade County, more than one in three COVID-19 tests are currently returning positive — and over the last three weeks, seven-day average case counts have increased by 3400%. This exponential growth in cases is likely attributable to the 81st Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which drew an estimated half a million visitors to Meade County and its environs from August 6 through 15, potentially acting as a superspreader event." The Delta variant is potentially deadly all over the U.S., but the current COVID-19 surge has been especially bad in red Sun Belt states with low vaccination rates. The crisis in South Dakota, however, has been occurring in a state that is many miles from the Sun Belt. Sturgis was a major 'superspeader' event — just as warnings predicted: report - Alternet.org Big surprise that the Nazi-MAGA rally is a murderous one. I just hope that they didn't infect any children or anyone not connected with this event. But, I know the right's selfishness certainly did. RIP to those that didn't attend this but will still die or face life-long health issues. WildPath 1
Tracker Posted August 26, 2021 Report Posted August 26, 2021 Saskatchewan Health Minister hopes Riders ‘make a choice’ for fan vaccination requirement Saskatchewan Health Minister Paul Merriman wants the Roughriders to make Mosaic Stadium a vaccine-only facility for fans. The Riders are one of just two CFL teams yet to mandate proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test for anyone attending their games in Regina. “We’re in constant contact with the Riders. If the Riders want to make a choice, that’s up to them. I know some other CFL teams have been able to do that or made their choice. We hope that the Riders will make a choice in the near future,” Merriman said. rebusrankin Posted August 26, 2021 Report Posted August 26, 2021 So was reading Hannover School Division's twitter and they're announcement of the new policies. They put the blame on the province. It was interesting there is a teacher on that thread who asked what about those who do not get vaccinated? Told by the Supe, those people can get tested three times a week. Response = what about those who don't get tested? Its like um believe that means you get fired. Wanna-B-Fanboy 1

The whole point of being a right-wing government is that you can absolve yourself of all responsibilities for the public welfare, after all, its everyone for themselves. You can stand by your guiding principle that its all about personal responsibility. If an unvaccinated person infects you, you obviously were not vigilant enough. Look at the state's in the US that embrace this mentality , they are the worst hit by the 4th wave. Look what is begining to happen in Southern Health where less then %20 of the population has half the cases. Nothing makes us safe but vaccines, masks and passports make us safer. TrueBlue4ever Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 There was also a veiled pro-Conservative slant in the article, wrapped up in generalities and a “if we can’t fix everything, why do anything?” mindset. Since vaccines don’t actually stop the transmission of COVID-19, then forced vaccination is pointless. Except they gloss over the fact that vaccinations reduce the severity of the illness if contracted, which leads to less hospitalizations and strain on the system, among other benefits. And the article starts with a jab at the NDP for promoting the mandatory vaccines and passports, saying it puts into question Singh’s entire ability to be a leader, and then concludes by saying the Ontario Conservatives seem to be taking the only rational approach. Hmm, almost sounds like there is an election going on and someone wants to take sides with a back door argument. JCon, rebusrankin, WildPath and 3 others 4 2

The vaccinated spreading Covid is also a popular talking point that is often misrepresented. Yes vaccinated people CAN spread it, BUT the likelihood that they will is reduced, even a possibility that vaccinated people only spread it when symptoms appear. But no one talks about the details...only "YOU STILL GET IT!!! YOU STILL SPREAD IT!!!". Super annoying and dumb. blue_gold_84, JCon and WildPath 3

These aren't contentious people that want to know if they are sick so they don't spread Covid and get tested early . I absolutly had to go to Winkler today for things I just can't get elsewhere easily. I had trouble getting what I needed so I went to 4 buisnesses. No employees or customers other than me had a mask on. Not one. I finally went to The Bulk Barn and saw a masked customer going in and their workers were masked.
