"As Professors Ioannidis and Bhakdi have shown, countries like South Korea and Japan that introduced no lockdown measures have experienced near-zero excess mortality in connection with Covid-19, while the Diamond Princess cruise ship experienced an extrapolated mortality figure in the per mille range, i.e. at or below the level of the seasonal flu." https://swprs.org/a-swiss-doctor-on-covid-19/

What she wrote and the stats she posted aren’t even in agreement.

Is that right?  So - why is Tokyo considering a lockdown?

Trump is lonely and frustrated.
Lonely, in that he misses those ego-pumping, bully pulpit rallies.
Frustrated, because he actually has to face and answer questions, and the threat of someone with actual knowledge, contradicting or correcting him.
Why do you think he hasn't had a White House briefing, in the last year and a half, and only gives interviews to Fox?

If there was ever a doubt before (which there wasn't), this whole thing is emphasizing that Trump is not only an ignorant self absorbed piece of **** with the world view of a spoiled toddler, but also is not just the worst president in history, but one of the worst examples of a human being as well.

As healthcare providers across the U.S. desperately attempt to treat a rapidly growing number of patients with the coronavirus, a pharmaceutical company with ties to the Trump administration has been granted exclusive status for a drug it is developing to treat the illness—a potential windfall for the company that could put the medication out of reach for many Americans.

As The Intercept reported Monday, the Food and Drug Administration granted Gilead Sciences “orphan” drug status for remdesivir, one of several drugs being tested as potential treatments for the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19. The designation is generally reserved for drugs that treat rare illnesses affecting fewer than 200,000 Americans—but companies can be eligible if the designation, as in this case of a rapidly spreading virus, is made before a disease spreads beyond that limit.

Yeah we are seeing with many governments around the world, and it's front and centre in the USA how part of the playbook is managing perception. Sad days when global pandemics are used for political gains.

Now I personally don't see it as the most dangerous thing out there in terms of **** that will kill you... but it might kill you and you are almost certain to catch it in some form. I don't want to be out there running around as some kind of Typhoid Mary potentially passing along a virus that could kill someone so I take precautions as everyone should.

Yeah it's gonna hurt economically, but that just means that society and our governments are going to have to adapt and change. Business as usual ain't gonna cut it anymore. This is a great opportunity to make some positive changes in the world.

Just taking a look at what the stock market did today should tell you that's probably not going to happen, anytime there's an event like this wealthy people find a way to exploit it and expand their wealth and power.

Should cross post this to the Giving Away Free Money thread.

I do not qualify unless Rich fired me due to lack of posts in NHL forum.

On a more serious note, they had to do this. Just like MB Gov gonna have to write off hydro bills.

Right on schedule. All of the spread from the "travel" cases that showed up about a week ago.

This might have something to do with it.  They should force people who knowingly boarded flights while sick to attend any funerals they cause.

How sick Canadian travellers are masking COVID-19 symptoms to get through airport screening

Canadians desperate to return home from abroad in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic are easily circumventing air travel screening aimed at preventing sick and infected passengers from boarding planes, CBC News has found.

Some are simply hiding symptoms from officials to ensure they can get back home.

CBC News has found a number of instances where sick travellers have boarded airplanes back to Canada, no matter the risks of spreading infection.

"Now is just the worst time to be coughing, sneezing or reporting any kind of symptom at an airport," said one university student in Toronto, who flew home from Spain on March 14. She admitted she purposely hid her symptoms and the fact she'd been suffering a fever hours before boarding the flight.

"It wasn't information you volunteered. So I just stayed quiet about it."
