I know there are plenty of very good, down to earth people in rural Alberta

How much real estate you allow the lunatics to occupy in your brain - is under your control.

This statement and similar statements like living rent free in someone's head is sometimes (not always) an overused and sometimes incorrect, frustrating, not helpful response to sane people of all shapes, sizes and colors just trying to be socially responsible human beings.

Being socially responsible does not mean living in fear you self-entitled, lazy thinking knuckle draggers. When I see people smirking around proudly wearing sweatshirts that say JustSayNo #ChrisSky all I see is Just Say No to being a good human being for one another.

It's like 'I can do whatever I want, my freedom, my rights, no one can tell me what to do, sane person challenges me, look I'm living rent free in their head ha ha'.

And then have a bystander come by and say yup their living rent free in your head just isn't useful. It really isn't useful as much as you think it is by generally applying with no specifics Covey's what's in your control, influence and out of your control approach to this specific situation of social responsibility.

The law of unforeseen consequences has surfaced. The Jesus freaks will continue to believe, in face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, that Jesus will protect them and the rest of the nuts will blame it on being poisoned or ignore it altogether.

As they chant this to themselves driving to church wearing a seatbelt.

I just know that is has helped me personally, when it comes to combatting misinformation.  You can't let it consume your entire being - that is all I meant with what I posted.

I should be ok, got one of these:

"Amuletic usage of mezuzah

The culture-comparative analysis suggests that the objects placed on domestic thresholds often bear the function of an amulet repelling the broadly understood evil.[17] In fact, the early Rabbinic sources explicitly witness the belief in the anti-demonic function of mezuzot."

😂

might put some lamb's blood on the front door!

I can make fun of this, cause I was Jewish, when young.

Really important and appreciated post.

We're still in the thick of Omicron... The most transmissible variant so far. Hospitalizations are still around record highs, same with ICU and in AB the deaths are staggering. Seeing between 20-30/day at times over the past couple weeks.

There is every reason to be extremely concerned right now and taking every precaution available.

I have a number of medical doctors and nurses in my social circle and EVERY ONE of them are taking every precaution as much as their jobs allow.

Ontario to remove vaccine passports: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-doug-ford-announcement-covid19-february-14-1.6350761

The Ontario government is removing the province's proof of vaccination system as of March 1, while also speeding up the second phase of its COVID-19 reopening plan to Thursday — a move that was set to happen later under the province's timeline.

In a news release, the province said despite removing the vaccine passport system, businesses and other settings may choose to continue to require proof of vaccination.

It noted masking requirements will remain in place at this time, with a specific timeline to lift this measure to be communicated at a later date.

All capacity limits in restaurants, bars, cinemas and gyms will be lifted as of Thursday, a move that was set to take effect on Feb. 21.

Premier Doug Ford announced the news Monday morning.

"Like all of you I've waited a long time for this news, but please never doubt that the steps we took together, as difficult as they were, were absolutely necessary and saved tens of thousands of lives," Ford said.

Starting Feb. 17, capacity limits will be removed at a host of indoor settings where proof of vaccination is required, including:

  • Restaurants, bars and other food establishments without dancing.

  • Retailers, including shopping malls.

  • Gyms and non-spectator areas of sports facilities.

  • Movie theatres.

  • Meeting and event spaces.

  • Museums, galleries, aquariums, zoos and similar attractions.

  • Casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments.

  • Religious services, rites and ceremonies.

As well, social gathering limits will increase to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. Organized public events will be capped at 50 people indoors, with no limit outdoors.

Capacity limits at sports arenas, concert venues and theatres meanwhile will be capped at 50 per cent.

Huh....

So my 7-year-old daughter got covid at the beginning of February, my Wife caught it 5 days later... both are fine and recovered completely (except my Wife's sense of taste and smell). There are seven in our household all fully vaxxed including boosters where applicable.

2 out of 7.

Vaccines work.

Thanks for sharing.

Same thing in our house. How people can be anything other than thankful for vaccines, is beyond me.

Got a close contact at work test positive today. I'm triple vaxxed and wear a KN95 any time I'm not on the air, so my fingers are crossed. Did a RAT tonight and was negative... Will test again this weekend.

Sister overseas had covid.

Now my niece here in Winnipeg has it.

She's double vaxxed tho as the booster does very little in reality to help. My cousin In Alberta had covid.. my cousin in Winnipeg had covid or so she says (not the most honest person always)

But yeah

Me mom dad daughter gf other sister her 2 young sons and husband have not. Common theme is we all vaxxed even the ones who got covid.

A Few kids in my nephews school class have had it.. GRADE 2.. none in daughters class.. grade 2 same school but different teachers.  Quite odd.. already told her she's wearing the mask the rest of the school year and she agreed with that because even my 7 year old knows it's better to be safe than sorry. Mask mandate ends March 15? Not for this guy and his family. I'm not a big fan of our governments basically giving up.. I get it.. Can't be restrictions forever but the mask mandate needs to stick around cuz I don't trust the person I don't know anymore.

I'd imagine most of us will continue wearing masks or face coverings for a while. (Sure keeps you warm when it's cold out)

I remember going to my lake in the summer.. there were no restrictions really.. I went to the highway store/bar/restaurant/gas/weed store and I walked in wearing my mask and nobody else had one on.. just me, that's it.. I felt like an outcast for a moment and took it off then someone sneezed and I was like **** it.. outcast works for me. Next week I go back and everyone was wearing masks

6 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours in Manitoba, and the Tories are loosening restrictions. Brilliant.

I hate being that guy but of those 6 deaths how many were vaxxed or didn't have severe health issues prior? Cuz my understanding from ppl who have had it and currently do Is... it's basically the worst flu you can get and if you are atleast double vaxxed (even single in some cases) you really will be fine unless underlying issues. I have several nurse friends (turns out all the girl friends became nurses) (sure seems that way lol) and they pretty much have been consistent with the... if you have some protection aka are vaxxed atleast one dose but preferably 2.. you will be ok and likely not even need hospital care.

Sorry... What?

It doesn't add protection really... 2 doses should be enough for most ppl unless you are really old or have underlying issues.

My sister was boosted and got covid... cousin in Alberta same thing... days after being boosted they tested covid positive. I've heard from ppl that 2 doses is good enough... if you have 2 doses and are somewhat healthy... you will be ok. Does the booster help? Depends really on you apparently.  Smoke? Lung issues? Heart issues? Of any kind? Perhaps it helps... if not? It's more for peace of mind than actual protection

Sister overseas told me lots of ppl in England got covid not long after being boosted (she was one of them)

Guess that's there tho and it's not as bad in Canada as it is there but... same idea applies. Humans are humans.. don't matter if you Canadian English French Black White or Chinese (not exactly true tho as people of color tend to be more susceptible to covid)
