Didn't make it or choosing not to play? Eligible players for Canada who have chosen not to but would otherwise be locks.

He's not in camp, so must have declined the invite.

No according to the Athletic(sp?)?He was cut along with Hughes and Gauthier and other high draft choices... can't give you the Athletic link( paid) but here is this one.

The usa roster much like Canada's is a who is who for next years draft. With a few guys drafted already sprinkled in.

Mcgroarty was the captain last year though there has to more to this, maybe injury or?

After you said this, I checked out the Athletic and, sure enough, they projected him to the be the 3rd line Centre. This was as of August 2nd.

But, he's no longer on the roster. You would think that, if he were injured, local media would be all on it, no?

Yeah i guess it will come out eventually what the reason is,right now it makes no sense. Cut your captain from a year ago?

McGroarty was captain of the US National Dev Team that plays against USHL and NCAA team's during the year.  He wasn't on the roster of last December WJC team.

[edit:  I'm now questioning if that is the right roster, as Zegras was in NHL last year.]

[edit #2 - found the boxscore from the first game US played of the canceled tournament - McGroarty was not on the roster.  https://www.tsn.ca/world-juniors/event/united-states-slovakia-20211226?event_id=184490]]

This month's games are attempt #2 to complete that tournament and can include players now over 20 that would have been eligible back in Dec/Jan.  I would expect McGroarty to make this coming December's team.

This is ex-Jet news:

I remember Gary Lawless saying that Trouba could have been the next Jets captain.  Good for him.  Still wish he was a Jet.

Tough to go from USA private healthcare to Canuck Communism healthcare. That girlfriend was our undoing. Next time Chevy no bff's who are becoming doctors.

Interesting stuff.... it's a smart move for her, in so much as getting away from Bell and the ever-looming axe overhead. Curious about the salary difference and long term benefits (Pension, etc) with going private. At any rate, happy for her to have this gig...

I'd neglected to consider how this move will give her a bit more time off in the summers and less travel, allowing more time with her young family You can't put a dollar sign on those things. Truly happy for her and her family.

Lots of pluses for her. Her husband has a demanding job that is not flexible. She made the decision years ago to return to Winnipeg and  make it her home, after leaving for university and other opportunities. This is win-win for her, her family and the Jets.

Family, family, family.
