We have the old guard- who are very savvy political animals. We have the up and comers AOC and crew, including Katie porter. The former have the experience and old knowledge; the former have the passion, idealism and the grassroots savvy. They don't have that generation to link the two- That is a grave oversight by the Democrats and one that is going to require A LOT of growing pains... But I feel it's all trending in the right direction. Social psychologists say that there are essentially two mindsets in people that direct their interpretations of what is going on around them and how they react: either fear/anger or hope. If you live in fear/anger, you retreat into a bunker mentality and rail against change. If you live in hope, life is much easier and you accept change as inevitable but not necessarily threatening and you look for the good in change. Wanna-B-Fanboy 1
Tracker Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 TRUMP HAS DECIDED TO GO TO THE NUCLEAR OPTION. Here's how the rest of Trump's desperate effort to stay in power will play out Donald Trump isn't about to concede the presidential election to Joe Biden. Not now, and seemingly, not ever. Anyone who has followed Trump closely knows two things about the man that make it relatively easy to anticipate his next move. The first is that, ideologically, Trump is a fascist who has no regard for democracy. The second is that, psychologically, he is a malignant narcissist who suffers from a toxic stew of narcissism, paranoia, antisocial personality disorder and sadism. As a result, it is virtually impossible for him to acknowledge, much less accept, failure. Trump also faces the prospect of being prosecuted for a variety of state and federal felonies upon leaving office. And while he can avoid federal jeopardy with a pardon, to do so he would either have to resign and permit Mike Pence, as his successor for the duration of the lame-duck period, to do the honors or undertake the legally dubious step of issuing a pardon to himself. Even then, he would remain exposed to the ongoing probe conducted by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance into allegations of tax, business and insurance fraud under New York law. How, then, does a fascist and a malignant narcissist who faces jail stave off defeat? Having lost both the popular vote and, more importantly, the tally in the Electoral College, and after being rebuked by numerous state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court, Trump is moving to his next option—staging what would amount to a coup d'état, invoking the complex provisions of the 12th Amendment, when Congress meets in a joint session on January 6 to confirm the winner of the presidential race. That there will be an attempted coup is no longer a matter of speculation. In an appearance on "Fox & Friends" on December 14, Stephen Miller, perhaps the most deranged and malevolent of Trump's senior advisers, openly declared the administration's plan to overturn the election results in the upcoming joint session. They stammer a lot and talk tough but with little effect. It will be interesting once the dust settles what people who know what they are talking about and what they have to say when they do a comprehensive review on these two and other Democratic leaders in taking on Trump and his administration. The appalling behaviour of the GOP completely overshadows how bad the old'timey Democrats have been. Their message is terrible, they're actions are pathetic and their victory laps everytime they get a small victory are embarrassing. Wanna-B-Fanboy and HardCoreBlue 2

Tracker Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 'Mistakenly unsealed' FBI affidavit reveals white supremacists planned attack on US power grid if Trump lost Although terrorist attacks by far-right white supremacist and white supremacist groups existed long before the Trump era, the last four years have found such groups emboldened. And according to Associated Press reporter Amy Forliti, one plot that white supremacists had in mind for the Summer of 2021 involved attacking power stations in the southeastern United States. Forliti reports that in an affidavit that was "mistakenly unsealed," the FBI alleges that an Ohio-based teenager and informant said he wanted the white supremacists to fast-track their plot if President Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election. In addition to winning 306 electoral votes, President-elect Joe Biden defeated Trump by more than 7 million in the popular vote. The NBC News reporter explains, "The teen was in a text group with more than a dozen people in the fall of 2019 when he introduced the idea of saving money to buy a ranch where they could participate in militant training, according to the affidavit, which was filed under seal along with a search warrant application in Wisconsin's Eastern U.S. District Court in March. The documents were inadvertently unsealed last week before the mistake was discovered and they were quickly sealed again." Tracker Posted December 25, 2020 Report Posted December 25, 2020 A deepening democracy crisis: More than 70 percent of Trump voters distrust the best-run election in years Angela Clark-Smith, a lawyer, started learning about the intricacies of observing elections when she was a member of the same sorority as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. In 2020, three decades later, she was deployed by the Georgia Democratic Party to observe the presidential election and, most recently, the processing of returned absentee ballots in its Senate runoffs. "There's a process. It is very straightforward," Clark-Smith said during a break at an early voting center in an Atlanta suburb, where she praised poll workers and the process of verifying signatures on ballot envelopes and flagging problems for follow-up with voters. "Watching it was like watching a work of art." Elections in Georgia are better run than those in many blue states. But as the state has become a national battleground following Joe Biden's narrow win there and during Senate runoffs that could return control of Congress to the Democrats, the artful process that Clark-Smith has seen and praised has become a "circus," she says. Clark-Smith witnessed the turmoil that is tearing apart American democracy: where partisans do not understand the process; do not know what they are seeing as they view election administration up close for the first time; and are part of a tidal wave—nearly three-fourths of Republicans, according to an NPR poll conducted in early December—who don't trust that the 2020 election results are accurate. Tracker Posted December 26, 2020 Report Posted December 26, 2020 'Going to get ugly': Trump supporter uses his work email to threaten ‘mass execution of public officials’ Michigan state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D) on Tuesday called out a supporter of President Donald Trump who sent a threatening email to lawmakers. "This was sent to my office this evening from Randall Yaeger, who chose to send it from his work email at Yaeger Construction. This email has already been sent to the authorities," Pohutsky said in a Facebook post. Yaeger's email repeated debunked claims of massive voter fraud and warned that "American voters will now be forced to change our government officials with bullets instead of ballots." The threatening email also "predicts" that the "mass execution" of public officials will begin "very soon" unless Trump is given a second term as president. According to Fox 2 Detroit, Yaeger could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the threat if he is really the person who sent the email. Wanna-B-Fanboy 1
Tracker Posted December 26, 2020 Report Posted December 26, 2020 (edited) Apparently Trump met privately with Pence for an hour prior to Trump jetting off to play golf while the GOP stalled the COVID relief bill and people were going hungry and dying. Pence was pressured by Trump to refuse to announce that Biden had won the electoral college vote vote, thereby throwing the results of the election into doubt. To his credit, the spineless Pence refused to not do his constitutional duty, This enraged Trump who barely controlled himself. Even after Trump was in Florida, he called Pence once again and spoke to him for an extended period, but was unable to convince Pence to change his mind. Trump is almost out of options. He has one more SCOTUS appeal, and then he will have only two possibilities: negotiate with Biden for a pardon in exchange for not inciting violent protests, or call for blood and fire in American streets, giving Trump a excuse to declare a national emergency and invoke martial law. The latter option would not cause Trump any hesitation. Edited December 26, 2020 by Tracker
