January 6th will be an interesting day on 2 fronts.

Pence will be performing his constitutional duty in overseeing the official elector count, and announcement of results for each state.  Normally, a simple ceremony, but not this time.   Trump is twittering away bigly about how Pence is the last line of defense against "the steal" and the need for him to "do something"  The cult have picked up on this and are already declaring online that Pence will be a deep state, cowardly traitor if he does not somehow derail the proceedings.

Now, the VP's powers are strictly limited to opening the envelopes from the states alphabetically, then passing the certificates to four tellers (two members from each house and each party.) The tellers read, count and alternate in announcing the results from each state.   But in MAGA land, as usual....alternative facts matter.   Trump is throwing Pence right under the 18 wheeler.   Just another fall guy to blame for Trump loosing the election.   Which is perhaps why Pence (probably for his own good, and perhaps safety) is traveling overseas, starting the day after.

Meanwhile, Josh Hawley's decision to object to the Electoral College result is putting McConnell and his fellow Republicans senators in a tough political bind.  If this goes back to the Senate - everyone there will have to vote and publicly indicate on the record, if they intend to still play along with this voter fraud challenge farce, to appease Trump and his base - especially or in the case for the 19 GOP Senators who are up for re-election in 2022.....or uphold the legal election results - and face the wrath of the cult, as well as providing the Dems with plenty of ammo to talk to swing voters about Trump boot licking seditious traitors .

Mitch is already stuck under the 18 wheeler.......

And of course Trump is back in town, with time left to add his particular brand of chaos, to the situation.....

Most of the 126 Senators will vote to delay or invalidate the election results. If it hasn't already been obvious, the GOP does not embarrass easily or have much regard for any law that does not benefit them or their agenda. Trump wants chaos and violence to validate his sense of outrage at not being re-elected and give him an excuse to invoke martial law.

I think that plenty of Republicans in House and Senate don't believe that there is actually election fraud, but are so scared of the Trumpian base, that they play along.  Up to now they could just pretend to both support MAGA and the legal processes of the land.    But now, these people will have to step up and declare publicly which one they stand for.

DOJ says any conceivable claims should’ve been brought against the House & Senate, not the VP.

That’s not just a technical point. It’s a huge (if obvious) acknowledgement that the VP doesn’t have substantive authority to reject slates of electors on 1/6–the suit’s key claim.

Hawley is a constitutional lawyer, he should know better but he has aspirations of being president and he wants the MAGA vote, he has made his bed

The grift that keeps on gritting...

President Trump still seems to be holding out hope he'll overturn the election results and win the presidency, but his D.C. hotel suggests otherwise ... based on their rates for Joe Biden's Inauguration Day.

The Trump International Hotel D.C.’s website currently shows that it's 5 times more expensive to book a room on January 19 and 20 ... and a 2-night minimum stay is required.

...the rates for those 2 nights have hiked up to $2,225 per night ... while other nights in January are in the $400 range.

Another bizarre pro-Trump election lawsuit bites the dust

Loony Louie Gohmert just had his zany lawsuit against Vice President Mike Pence tossed on the sad heap of Krakens. Gohmert and some other Republicans were trying to get the courts to require Pence to abuse his position as U.S. Senate presiding officer to make his own call about which electors counted on January 6.

Once again, the nonsense of the Republicans' legal clown car was rejected by a Republican judge appointed to his post by Donald Trump. This time it was Judge Jeremy Kernodle hammering one more nail in the judicial coffin.

LawandCrime.com had this report tonight:

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against Vice President Mike Pence by Rep. Louie Gohmert and fake pro-Trump electors on Friday, finding that plaintiffs lacked standing.

And yet, to quench his ego thirst, Trump wants rally the crowd in Dalton Georgia on Monday.

Trump Declares Georgia Senate Races 'Illegal And Invalid' Days Ahead Of Vote

President Donald Trump declared the Senate runoff elections in Georgia both “illegal and invalid” in a tweet on Friday, which could dissuade his followers from heading to the polls.

“There’s a big strain of thought among Republicans that President Trump is sabotaging this race,” Allen said. “He’s done so much to be unhelpful to those candidates. [Republicans] say he must be thinking: ‘I want to send a message. If I’m not on the ballot, Republicans are in trouble.’”

Biden is going to have his eyes opened wide when he sees how many Senate Republicans are going to challenge his win, 12 and counting,  he will have problems with his picks for various positions in his administration too, by pass the ones not confirmed by the Senate if the Dems don't win the run offs and appoint them as acting just like their boy Trump.

He may have less people to consider but these buffoon Republicans made it easier to stroke off names even for consideration.

But, one thing at a time I guess. Just get past Tuesday and he’ll begin to feel it.

He knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

I don’t know how this guy did it, but coming back from the future can’t be easy.

I’d probably go all in on this article except for the fact Jan. 20 falls on a Wednesday...
