CodyT Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 Unfortunately I've brought this up to a few of my friends who are not currently cfl fans (all in there 20s) and they love the idea

TBURGESS Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 My first reaction was What the F???? My second reaction was WHY? IF... It just means cross promotion, then this is much ado about nothing. IF... It means CFL rules played in both countries, then I'm for it. I don't care about field size. I know it would mean killing the ratio, but it's not the passports that matter, it's the rules. IF... It means 4 down, NFL rules in both countries, then I'd rather let the CFL die. MOBomberFan, JCon, Noeller and 3 others 2 4

TSN's Dave Naylor has more on what the deal means for both leagues, including a potential merger, and why talks between the two leagues are taking place. Video!

This is just his long game to get revenge and destroy the league that spurned him! I don't think it's revenge. It's a huge Thank you as he never would have had the life he had if he made the Stamps. Doesn’t take a lot of reading between the lines in hearing Naylor in that video to surmise that the CFL is in major financial trouble and may essentially be dead. Mark F 1

Blueandgold Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 The day the CFL drops 3 down football is the day I’ll stop being a die hard fan. I’ll likely still go to and watch Bomber games, but my investment would decrease significantly if we adopt American rules. M.O.A.B., rebusrankin, Bigblue204 and 2 others 3 2

Canadians weren't allowed to play on American CFL teams because it took away American jobs. I doubt that's changed. To compensate, rosters on CFL teams would have to drastically cut Canadian players & replace them with Americans. The good ones will make it. The borderline Canadians will all be gone. . Correction here... it's not that they weren't allowed to play on the American teams.... there was just no minimum Cdn player requirement.... i.e. the ratio.... Unless I'm mistaken... then someone please correct me... Bigblue204 and TBURGESS 2
17to85 Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 If you're going to kill the CFL do us mercifully and not turning it into XFL Jr. I simply won't care nearly as much about a 2nd teir American league playing in Canada. I can live with the XFL playing by Canadian rules if the cash is good enough but to Americanize the CFL is killing it. CodyT and Dr Zaius 1 1
JCon Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 The XFL is league that has played fewer games EVER than the CFL played in 2019. What's the plan for 2021, CFL? Jimmy Pop, rebusrankin, blue_gold_84 and 1 other 4
Bigblue204 Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 I listened to Wade on 680. And he honestly made me feel better lol. Said nothing from this is going to impact this year. Reassured that the league is aware of the tradition of the CFL (though he didn't say they would 100% not be changing rules etc). https://globalnews.ca/news/7688348/cfl-xfl-talks-winnipeg-blue-bombers-reaction/ Noeller and rebusrankin 2
JCon Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 Okay, if I'm taking Randy at his word, which is hard, it sounds like they're simply looking for synergies on how the leagues can work together. But, geez, they're terrible at communication. Like world-class, really bad. Bigblue204, Mark F and Noeller 3
Jpan85 Posted March 10, 2021 Author Report Posted March 10, 2021 Hypothetical here what if its 4 downs but every other rule stays.

JCon Posted March 10, 2021 Report Posted March 10, 2021 I'm all for a partnership that creates more opportunities for the players. If nothing else, the leagues should find a way to let them play on both sides of the border each year. There's risks, for sure. Bigblue204, Noeller and rebusrankin 3
