Mark H. Posted Saturday at 05:56 PM Report Posted Saturday at 05:56 PM I don't have much interest in pro hockey, but last night we took in a junior game (Steelers vs. Terriers) for the first time in many years. Tons of hitting, lots of chippy play, some guys with decent skills. The refs let too much go in the first period then clamped down, which led to players mouthing off - interesting drama. It was a good night. 3-2 Terriers, in OT Noeller, kelownabomberfan and Piggy 1 3

Daughter tells me stories of kids throwing chairs at teachers or other kids and what happens? Nothing. Kid doesn’t go home. Just gets an email sent home

He’s 19 now, but there wasn’t anything to this extreme when he was growing up in sports or school. Guess he/we were lucky, because you’re right, kids seem to face very little consequences these days. Just gets an email sent home I will say teachers these days have absolutely zero power or authority on doing anything with any kids at all ages of schooling. For example when our autistic daughter was in Grade 1, she didn't want to go back inside after recess and decided to go for a walk down the street. The teachers would not hold her hand to re-direct her back to the school, they had to only use words (which didn't work). She was non violent and was simply curious , but even after saying we give you permission to grab her hand and to redirect her back they refused to do it because they are not allowed to have any physical contact with any children. Another story I heard from a co-worker, their was a kid in her sons Jr High who was violent had sucker punched and then beat up a boy for no reason at all to a point where the victim was knocked out. The reason was because he was mad and somehow that kid "triggered him". The parents demanded that the bully be expelled from the school because her son feared for his life. The end result was the school justifying the "bully" because his parents self diagnosed the kid with IED and that he can't help that he wants to express his anger by attacking other kids. The school suggested the victim to relocate to a new school! I have family and a few friends who are teachers and apparently in the last 5 years or so the kids all across the town (and even outside) are absolutely terrible and basically it's like the early parts of Kindergarten Cop before Detective Jon Kimble whips the kids into shape. The inmates run the asylum and the teachers have zero mechanisms or authority to control the kids. Also ALOT of terrible parents who either don't care or refuse to accept that they have a rotten child.
