I see you're still complaining about the poster instead of commenting on the content. Mid season form for you.

FTR: Do you think the Bombers are happy with the receivers? You know.... what my post was actually about.

Why would anyone think they're unhappy?

In that June 27th 2019 game Charles Nelson was our return specialist. I see that he is back. Who do they go with, Grant or Nelson? I realize this is where being able to see training camp would help a lot.

I would go with Grant for the sheer reason that he seemed to have better ball security. I can't easily find lost fumbles stats for either player, but it seemed to me that Nelson just coughed it up at really inopportune times. Only one I can think of off the top of my head was last year in Game 3 (Week 4) when he had a fumble against the RedBlacks. Was a huge turning point in that game and was overshadowed by Medlock's onside recovery.

Reason Grant is not in NFL is he had a fumbling problem with Ravens but I think he only fumbled once last year.

I seem to remember Grant having a few fumbles last year but somehow we were always lucky enough to get ball back. Just in the playoff run alone I recall him having a fumble after a big return that happened on a play that also had no yards against our opponents and holding against us, which negated the stat. I think that may have been in the Grey Cup game. I also recall him taking our first offensive play against Hamilton in that game and having a great 10 yard run which ended with him coughing up the ball on first contact. Luckily he was right against the sideline and the ball went straight out of bounds.

In any case, he was the most explosive threat we've had on kick returns in a while so I definitely give him the edge over oft injured Nelson.

Yeah...pretty sure the plays you are thinking of is his fumble in the Western Semi-Final against Calgary for the no-yards play. There was also his first game ever against Calgary (I think that was 2018 though) where he had 2 TDs, but also had a fumble towards the end of the first half.

TLDR; They both have fumbling issues, but I'd say Grant was more integral to our STs last year.

1. No thousand yard receivers in '19.

2. Brought in Mitchell as an upgrade. Great move. Sad to see him retire.

3. Brought in Meredith when Matthews retired.

4. There are still 17 receivers on the current roster.

These 4 facts lead me to think they aren't all that happy with the current group.

I tend to lean towards TBurg on this. Maybe not that the club is not happy with the receiving crew, but not necessarily satisfied with status quo - nor should they be. Not sure beyond homerism why people think this is a game -breaking deep crew we have. Like TB says, zero thousand yard guys, and in fact not really close to that mark for any of them last year. And not sure why everyone is certain Buck Pierce will suddenly make this offence heavy pass. He has the same personnel and learned at the hands of LaPo, who designed a successful Grey Cup winning ball control offence with the best running back in the CFL. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and any tweaks won’t be that drastic I feel. Not like Collaros was throwing for 450 yards a game either when he arrived.

The thing is Lapo is tended to be a ball control offense guy. Yes, there was 2002, his first year when allegedly they still ran a lot of Worman's stuff from the year before but in 03, you saw the shift to a more ball control offense. His tenure as head coach = run game+ball control. Same as his recent OC stint. I believe that our receivers (Lawler in particular) are better than what they have been allowed to show.

What's #3 about? Who is this Matthews that retired? Or did you just mean Mitchell?

When you have Harris sucking up 50% of the offensive touches and Demski who is also a great ball control threat it tends to drastically decrease the touches for the wideouts and slots in the medium to long routes. I suspect that this year the Bombers are looking to decrease Harris's workload and that this will pay dividends for Lawler and Adams. The 3rd IMP spot is Bailey's to lose but definitely the Bombers have to be looking hard to see if they can get a bonafide game breaker in camp. Why wouldn't they. Doesn't mean they are unhappy with Bailey, just means that every player group has a guy that you wanna push in camp and maybe even replace if scouting has done a great job.

Pretty sure he meant Mitchell.

I don't think Meredith signing has anything to do with Mitchell.  Meredith kind of fell in their lap by moving to Winnipeg and they would have taken a look at him even if Mitchell had not retired.  His kind of talent (when healthy) doesn't come knocking on your door everyday.

It's just TBurg bending everything to fit to his argument.

Not a huge surprise, but good to know.

I'll be there to see it. Looking forward like you wouldn't believe

Lets say you're right, still means that we're looking for an upgrade at the receiver spot.

Unveiling the Championship banner against the team you won it against….That’s awesome!
