I have to say I can never remember the production being this bad.

At halftime of the first game they flashed an 11-9 Calgary score. It was 14-12...

Then for a while during this game it showed as 3-0 Ottawa when it was 3-0 Edmonton.

Can't remember there ever being so many outright screw ups simply displaying the current score of a game.

Serious question, with the year off did they turnover a lot of TV staff?

The guy that is doing the elks redblacks game has an amateur voice. Its riddles. he should be a sideline reporter. Its not bothering me but its sad we don't have any great broadcasters in canada anymore outside Cuthbert. After Bob Cole retired even HNIC is awful

That never happened. And if it did it would be for few seconds. Ever watch a basketball game? same issue. The score bug is hooked up to the automatic in house electronic board for both time and score. 

We saw it tonight when Ottawa got a TD then it got called back they added another 6 to it. So because of that for like 30 seconds if you went on the TSN app or even CFL.ca it would have shown 15-3. They have

to edit the bug and remove the entry and add 3 again.

The voice is the physical characteristics of the voice. Delivery is what you do with it.

that is for when you do a speech. we are talking play by play.

it's not different. how you speak is all in the delivery. If physical gestures and eye contact mattered voice acting wouldn't be a thing.

For those scoring at home, in 12 hours we have learned from his own posts on various topics that Polar Bear:

I might believe that during a normal season but I can't see 20 Bombers hanging out together while there are strict return to play requirements in place.

Other than the Bomber game there's been no change in the broadcasts. Got me pumped that TSN was going to make improvements to their broadcasts. Just so disappointing.

I am extremely knowledgeable about sports and broadcasting. Clearly...  As I gave examples earlier I know all the best were hired due to their voice. Remember Dave Hodge? He was removed from HNIC play by play to host cause of his voice. CBC sports president made the decision that his voice wasn't fitting for HNIC for the nation with what they had in the cbc department. 

 

Not surprisingly, you're just making stuff up.  Hodge was fired for criticizing the CBC during a broadcast because they went to news instead of finishing broadcasts of in-progress games.

I am knowledgeable enough to remember it like yesterday.

Black comes across as someone who is too self-important to care about the game playing out before him.  That's kind of fatal for a play by play guy.  I would hazard a guess that he actually does pbp for half the plays and rambles (or let's Suitor talk over him) for the rest.  He is brutal.  My cousin went to Cre-Com with him and he was full of himself then.  Seems to me that he still thinks he's more important than the game.  He fails the ear test in every conceivable way.  Try listening (if you can handle it) and not watching a quarter of football during his broadcast.  You would have no idea what is happening.

Suitor needs to shut the hell up when a live play is happening.   He was also talking over Rod Smith a lot too.  The Producer & Director really need to can Black and have a serious discussion with Suitor about respecting the live game.

And yes, I have done some time in radio and TV production before leaving for more predicatable paycheques and know a lot of people who are still in the business.
