Sounds like he's fitting in, bonding with the group all ready and displaying that Bomber OL mindset = Its about the team+Physically maul people. Love it. Yeah it's a great read. What I find interesting is he looks much more svelte then he was at texas state. When he went viral for his athleticism at maine he was 344lbs. Dunking, diving one handed catches, a ridiculously fast shuttle time etc. When he went to Texas he lost 14 lbs and was playing at 330. He is now listed as 314. If he has dropped 20-30 lbs from his maine weight, his mobility is going to be un real. I mean he was already a generational big athlete at 340 for the US. For a Canadian in the CFL at 325-320 or under its going to be crazy. rebusrankin, Tracker, Fred C Dobbs and 2 others 5
Booch Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 What's crazy is how this teams management and the way they manage roster..and prep for future is top notch...we've developed..replace and retooled through as goosen and chungh loss....Desjarlais..and Eli and just reload and don't miss a beat...crazy...other teams if they aren't envious are just oblivious then on how to manage a roster the watcher, BigBlueFanatic, Zach Schnitzer and 6 others 3 6

I've been trying to remember just how many OL this team has lost since 2016. At least 1 a year I believe. JCon, Booch and wbbfan 2 1

He didn't really come to fruition but Cody speller too. Also Travis bond. The way the mafia toiled away taking the OL from bad, to good, to great, and then from 3 imp to 2 imp, and built a sustained level of depth. That's the back bone of this Dynasty. A lot of other great teams have fallen to ruin with far less loss on the OL. Then they've also done the exact same thing in the defensive backfield. From bad, to anchored by guys like Mo and Randle to replacing 2 vets with 2 rookies last year and still having the best performing secondary of the era. And in general with the draft the mafia have done a tremendous job of weighing the risk of guys with NFL interest or who are returning to school with the probability that they end up back here. We've taken a LOT of future picks, but lost out on very little. I can't think of one dead pick that never came up actually. Guys like rene, borsa, dobson, Legs, Kongbo, and Gray either go back to college or have NFL interest but the bombers seem to estimate that risk and win the gamble nearly every time. But while also taking those up side future guys they manage to refill the depth with guys like the Hallets, exume, eli, corney, couture, loffler, gauthier, cadwaller and more. And yet still have upside assets left in guys like kramdi and Orange. The cfl draft is still as much a crap shoot as ever and you get Faiths, griffiths, etc, but despite frequently having the fewest and latest picks in the draft the Mafia continue to crank out tremendous draft classes. And we see off cuts like simonise, petey etc filling out spots around the league. Zach Schnitzer, TBURGESS, rebusrankin and 1 other 2 2

wbbfan Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 A few predictions for TC / Pre season. Mourtada wins the starting kicking job and hackett the punting job. Legs hits the PR. We start to see guys like Richmond start to raise eye brows as back up imp ol. Prukop becomes the pre season mop and wins heir apparent title. Dru brown in the first pass of cuts. Augustine takes the starting job from Brady, but we still run a platoon. Augustine took a huge step forward prior to last year and can really hit the home run out of the back field. He's almost turning 29 soon and peaking physically. Brady will turn 25 this year and augustine has very little wear and tear on his body. I still have brady as slightly better, and better suited to being a no1 rb, but Augustine as the now guy makes the most sense. And I can see him coming into camp with an all time high level of motivation. The starting job is finally in his grasp. WR is the battle of camp. Grant takes some ones starting job and we platoon returners for a while with him. Namely Ford. Muckelvene is this years Mcknight/sheed Coaches favorite, and maybe an overachiever at wr as a rook. Lots of WR bodies stick around on the PR. Simmons, schoen, whop, and blake jackson make for a tough decision. A wr with cfl games played gets cut. (Feels like forever since we did that in TC. The back up DL continue to look great but get stuck behind the starters. Mack and Moala especially. Zach Schnitzer and Mark F 1 1
Mark F Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 (edited) Re: O line.... need to give a lot of credit to the O line coach, Marty Costello. "Marty Costello enters his seventh year with the Blue Bombers in 2022, and fifth as the club’s offensive line coach. Costello has earned the utmost respect for the work he has done with the Blue Bombers offensive line, which remains the most-consistent and dominant unit in the Canadian Football League. The 2021 season was particularly rewarding for Costello and his charges as they played a critical role in the 2021 Grey Cup championship. The offensive line surrendered the fewest quarterback sacks in the league as part of an offence which also finished first in scoring and second in yards rushing. Prior to 2021, the offensive line also had a lot to boast about, as running back Andrew Harris has captured three consecutive CFL rushing titles, while the offence finished first in scoring in 2018 and second in 2017. Heading into the 2019 season, Winnipeg’s O-line lost two starters in the offseason with centre Matthias Goossen retiring to work with the Delta Police Department and Sukh Chungh leaving in free agency. As well, the club was without Neufeld for the first half of the season due to injury. Yet, Costello’s crew continued to provide holes for Harris while protecting three different starting quarterbacks in Matt Nichols, Chris Streveler and Zach Collaros. Winnipeg’s 2,663 yards rushing was the most by the club since 1965, when the team rushed for 3,005 yards in a 16-game season." lots more https://www.bluebombers.com/football-operations/marty-costello/ Edited May 22, 2022 by Mark F Fred C Dobbs, wbbfan, Tracker and 3 others 6
BBlink Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 Was at TC today being a fan. So mostly watching the receivers lol. Opinions and observations likely mean diddly squat. Janarion Grant is looking like he wants to play more offense. Looked great IMO. Have yet to see Saunders use his speed but he's got good movies. McKnight looks better at the present time. Looks like they're trying to get Whop (drop) Filyor (sp?) involved. He seems very dynamic running the jet sweep. Got open a lot but (gulp) having trouble catching the ball. Demski looks so polished out there. Hard to cover. Bailey is a beast. Not a burner obviously but he's going to make the job hard for DBs due to his size and motor. Looking more and more like Nik Lewis. Woli didn't have a great day IMO. Dalton Schoen looks to be about the same prototype but is faster. Used his size and speed to back DBs off. Looked good. Lucky Jackson is also a sizeable fast receiver. McUlvene (sp) looks like one of those guys that quietly makes catches. Ellingson, Agudosi and B Jackson not practicing. The best play call Lapo had for Brink was QB draw, ran a base RPO offense when he started and he also ran our short-yardage offense in 2011. But he couldn't pass at all mostly because he throw half the balls into the dirt cause he'd never set his feet.

Short yardage and being a threat to run is completely different, and maybe your right but i do not remember Brink being a threat running or passing as a Qb... Bigblue204 and Tracker 2

I only caught 1 good scrimmage but there wasn't too much of a difference I could notice today. Lots of missed deep corner passes so it may have been poor passes or the change in the hash marks throwing things off on some receivers. I'm wondering if you'll see more slot screens than screens to the wideouts due to the hash marks moved closer together, these field changes could unload a whole new bunch of tricky play calls or a bunch we've never seen. But as you had pointed out so many of his throws skipped off the ground before hitting the legs of the receiver.
