Booch, Boise State owns a trademark on a blue artificial turf field. The Bombers would have to get permission before they could install a blue field.

Not sure their trademark would be legally binding in all circumstances (the Bombers did have blue end zones in Canadinns when the trademark was already active), but interesting articles about it. Thanks for those.

In any event, with the Bisons (brown and gold) and Valour (maroon, gold and black) sharing the field, blue would make no sense for them when they play.

Every country has it's own trademark licensing. Boise state may own it in the US, but do they license the TM in Canada?

Well, can't answer that. Interesting that a university can do something like that. I also rememeber a story where Rogers Lehew, then GM of the Stampeders back in 1968 introduced the current horse logo on Stamps helmets which was a trademark infrigement upon Southern Methodist University which had the horse first. Before Lehew came to the Stamps, he was an assistant coach at SMU. The Stamps had to get permission to use it although there were some subtle nuances between the 2.

The Ford Motor Company threatened to sue the Stamps back in 1968 when they started to use the white horse logo. There's no way the puny Stamps could take on the mighty Ford Motor Company & it's massive legal dept so the team was simply going to find another logo to use. Then, without warning Ford dropped any threat of a lawsuit & the way was clear for Calgary to use the white horse logo.

I basically always agree with Booch. I’m not in on the blue turf 😂

Id rather see us go back to grass

i was kinda being funny...I dont want blue turf...tho I think one endzone in Bombers end should be blue...the other Bison color....could care less about Valour  having any coloring...

I have an old TV at the lake that I drag down to the dock so I can watch games, Haven't replaced it because I figure that one day I will probably drop it in the drink after a few too many wobbly pops and this way I won't care.  Anyhoo, the picture is going on it and greens are more blue than green. I kinda like the look of blue turf. SIckens me to see the Riders in blue uniforms tho....lmao

The coloured turf  probably rules out Soccer Canada games which we don’t want to do.

IF it was up to me we would got back to the W over the football endzones

All field logos are now digitally imposed on the TV broadcast. Wonder if that would be affected if the Bombers switched to a blue turf? Or if the adjustment to block out the turf as a “blue screen” would make the Bomber jerseys disappear as well? Bunch of floating heads running around a football field.

TV does not use a blue screen.  They use a green screen.
